The reporter learned from the Supreme People's Procuratorate that in order to further promote the empowerment of legal supervision in the new era through digital prosecution, from December 2022 to June this year, the Supreme People's Procuratorate conducted pilot operations of the intelligent auxiliary case handling system for criminal trial supervision in nine procuratorates across the country, achieving significant results. The 9 pilot procuratorates are: Beijing Procuratorate, Dalian Procuratorate in Liaoning Province, Liangxi District Procuratorate in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, Shaoxing Procuratorate in Zhejiang Province, Qingtian County Procuratorate in Zhejiang Province, Xiamen Procuratorate in Fujian Province, Wuhan Procuratorate in Hubei Province, Guiyang Procuratorate in Guizhou Province, and Xi'an Procuratorate in Shaanxi Province. It is understood that the primary purpose of running the intelligent assistance system for criminal trial supervision is to solve the current problems of narrow criminal trial supervision clues and insufficient sources of protest cases. Through pilot work, various pilot procuratorial organs have expanded the sources of protest cases and improved the quality and efficiency of supervision. For example, the Beijing procuratorial organs filed a total of 46 protest cases in the first half of this year, an increase of 27.8% compared to the same period last year. Expanding case supervision to category supervision is the development direction of the intelligent auxiliary case handling system for criminal trial supervision, and it is also the long-term goal of pilot work. Taking the Wuhan Procuratorate as an example, through big data supervision, the court discovered that there was an error in the application of fine penalties in the theft case of Mr. Ao. After delving into clues about the application of fine penalties in other theft cases in the past decade, it issued a notice to correct the violation and recommendations for similar case supervision to the court, urging the court to promptly correct 12 erroneous judgments, achieving a transition from case supervision to similar case supervision. In addition, empowering digital prosecution through big data and integrating it into source governance, promoting the modernization of legal supervision work, is also one of the achievements of the intelligent assistance system for criminal trial supervision. If the Dalian Procuratorate discovers a high incidence of environmental pollution crimes in a certain area through this system, it will work together with the public interest litigation procuratorial department to promptly formulate and issue procuratorial suggestions, and urge relevant government departments to conscientiously fulfill their duties. It is reported that the Second Procuratorate of the Supreme People's Procuratorate has sorted out and extracted 122 criminal trial supervision rules in the overall pilot work, and has formed a pilot summary report based on the pilot situation in various regions. The relevant work experience has been adopted and promoted by the Supreme People's Procuratorate Digital Procuratorate Office.
