One tenon and one mortise, one axe and one chisel. Guangzhou style hardwood furniture originated in the Ming Dynasty and matured in the Qing Dynasty. Together with Beijing style and Soviet style furniture, it is known as the "three major schools of Qing Dynasty furniture". It often uses abundant materials, has a thick volume, and is an important branch of Chinese furniture craftsmanship. In 2008, it was included in the national intangible cultural heritage list. It not only inherits the traditional furniture making techniques of our country, but also absorbs the advantages of Western furniture culture, forming a unique artistic style with Lingnan characteristics. For hundreds of years, countless skilled craftsmen have been impressed by its "luxury and composure", dedicating themselves to inheriting and developing the production techniques of Cantonese hardwood furniture, with young inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, Liang Junwei, being one of the representatives. Liang Junwei is a representative inheritor of the production techniques of Guangzhou style hardwood furniture, a representative project of Guangzhou Municipal Intangible Cultural Heritage, and a master of arts and crafts in Guangzhou. He studied under Hu Minqiang, a provincial representative inheritor of the production techniques of Guangzhou style hardwood furniture. Since joining his teacher at the age of 18, Liang Junwei has been systematically learning the production techniques of Cantonese hardwood furniture, and has been involved in product design, sales, and other aspects. It has now been more than 20 years. On the path of inheriting intangible cultural heritage, Liang Junwei has repeatedly walked into communities and campuses, bringing intangible cultural heritage skills to more people's lives, and also leaving the exquisite and innovative redwood sentiment in everyone's hearts. Recently, Liang Junwei had a conversation with reporters from the "Outlook New Era" magazine (referred to as the "New Society"), allowing us to enter the world of hardwood furniture and appreciate his spirit of "great craftsmanship". Liang Junwei (photo/Xinhua News Agency) Art Inheritance: In order to have a source of fresh water during his high school years, when his classmates were all trying to use novel patterns in arts and crafts design courses, a classmate's presentation of traditional patterns caught Liang Junwei's attention. In each assignment, the patterns submitted by this student were amazing, "said Liang Junwei. Although they had studied traditional decorative patterns before, they never expected such a rich combination of them. This student's unique understanding and exquisite presentation of traditional decorative patterns left a deep impression on him. At that time, I asked him why he had a deeper understanding of traditional patterns than his peers, but he didn't say anything. After the summer vacation, the classmate took the initiative to invite Liang Junwei to their home as a guest. With a curious mood, Liang Junwei walked into a factory of Cantonese style hardwood furniture under the guidance of his classmates. At this moment, he realized that most of his classmates' design inspiration came from the simple and magnificent Cantonese hardwood furniture in front of him. His father was Hu Minqiang, a representative inheritor of Cantonese hardwood furniture making techniques at the provincial level in Guangdong, and also Liang Junwei's future master. Originally, as early as the mid to late Qing Dynasty, villagers in the Shenshan area of Jianggao Town, Baiyun District, Guangzhou had a tradition of learning wood carving; At the peak of Guangzuo Redwood in the Republic of China, there was a significant increase in the number of "handmade children" studying wood carving in Daling Village, Shenshan. Since the generation of Hu Chaohong, the grandfather of Hu Minqiang, the Hu family has been making a living by making Cantonese style hardwood furniture, continuously inheriting the production techniques of Cantonese style hardwood furniture in this process. The name "Songyuan" in the "Songyuan Redwood" jointly operated by Liang Junwei and his master Hu Minqiang is derived from a place name in Daling Village. Afterwards, every winter and summer, Liang Jun
