Upgrading the Industrial System Driven by Digital Technology
2023-11-10
"In the new era of digital economy, can our consumption (intensity) of resources be far lower than today's level?" On November 9, Wang Jian, an academician of the CAE Member, director of Zhijiang Laboratory, and founder of Alibaba Cloud, raised this question when he delivered a speech at the 2023 World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit. In his view, using data as a factor to achieve qualitative changes in resource utilization efficiency is crucial for industrial development. At the "Digital Economy Leading the Construction of Modern Industrial System" sub forum held in Wuzhen on the same day, government officials, renowned scholars, enterprise executives, representatives of international organizations, and other guests focused on the new paths and models of digital technology and data elements driving high-quality development of modern industries to exchange the latest views, and introduced the exploration and practice in their respective fields. "If only large enterprises participate in the intelligent manufacturing of the textile industry, it will be just snow in the spring, not spring in the garden." Chen Wenxing, academician of the CAE Member and president of Zhejiang University of Technology, introduced that in Lanxi, Jinhua, Zhejiang Province, most of the local cotton industry clusters are small and medium-sized enterprises, and through multi-party collaborative innovation, a "4+X" digital transformation model combining prescribed actions with optional actions has been formed, with obvious results. For example, through data interconnection, the overall time for order scheduling has been reduced by more than 20%; By utilizing the energy analysis system, the overall energy usage has decreased by about 12%. Chen Wenxing added that the integration of digital technology and the clothing industry is highly valuable in reducing inventory issues caused by design disconnection and bridging the barriers between production, design, and consumption. According to the "Digital China Development Report (2022)" released by the National Internet Information Office, the scale of China's digital economy reached 50.2 trillion yuan in 2022, ranking second in the world in total, with a year-on-year nominal growth of 10.3% and a proportion of 41.5% of the gross domestic product. Zhang Ping'an, Executive Director of Huawei and CEO of Huawei Cloud, analyzed that the scale of the domestic digital economy is leading in the world in terms of growth rate, but there is still a significant gap in core technology innovation compared to developed countries. For example, currently China's CPU market share is only 3%, and only 9% in terms of operating systems for domestic servers. Computing power is the productivity of rapid development for enterprises, and ecology determines the voice of the digital world. Zhang Ping'an said that it is expected that by 2030, the global demand for universal computing power will be 10 times that of 2020, and the demand for artificial intelligence computing power will be 500 times that of 2020. Facing the explosive growth of computing power in the future, it is necessary to move from the current CPU centric computing architecture to a peer-to-peer architecture that supports diverse computing power, and adapt to the massive diversity of computing power needs. The new and intelligent globalization is rooted in new digital technologies, and we need to embrace globalization. "Lu Yiji, Chairman of the China Europe Digital Association, believes that the digitalization of the European automotive industry is the most advanced in European manufacturing. According to industry reports, China's total investment in the European automotive industry in 2022 exceeded 50%, which is no coincidence. In the past two years, the COVID-19 epidemic has amplified the negative impact of globalization, and local conflicts have also added more uncertainty to the development of globalization. Regarding this, Lu Yiji bluntly stated that domestic supply and demand will never replace the global market
