2023-11-08
Guangming Daily reporter Yan Deyong, Wang Jianhong, Zhang Rui, Guangming Daily correspondent Lv Xing walked into the western part of Jingchu Land. If you look down from the clouds, you will have a completely different impression from the Jianghan Plain: on the lush forest map, multiple water systems such as the Yangtze River, Qingjiang River, Youshui River, Daishui River, Cheba River, etc. meander and undulate among the mountains and jungles of Enshi Prefecture. After passing through the mountains and blocking peaks, you have a grand atmosphere of mountains and valleys echoing. If nature is compared to a vast canvas, the mountains and waters of Enshi Prefecture are restored on paper, like a poetic "staff". Deep in the mountains and rivers, the children of the Tujia and Miao ethnic groups in Enshi Prefecture have been recuperating for generations. This "staff chart" twists and turns, and Southern Opera emerged. It has been sung in the Chu River of Jingshan for 300 years... 1. It originated from "Southern Peach Blossom Fan" and has an ancient style that has been sung to the present day. It is also known as Southern Opera or Shi Nan Diao, commonly known as "Gaotai Opera" or "Renda Opera", and is a local opera genre popular in Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province. It is one of the four major local operas in Hubei Province. Nanju originated during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty and the Rongmei Tusi period in western Hubei, and formed during the Qianlong period in the mid-19th century. It has a history of over 300 years to this day. Looking back to the 40th year of the Kangxi reign (1701), Tian Shunnian, the head of the Rongmei tribe in western Hubei, who was deeply influenced by Han culture and loved drama, admired the name "Peach Blossom Fan" and sent his troops to pay respects to the famous opera master Kong Shangren. Kong Shangren appointed his friend Gu Cai (also known as Tianshi) to carry "Peach Blossom Fan" to Rongmei in western Hubei due to inconvenience. After Gu Cai arrived, he directly moved into the Tiancheng Building villa of Rongmei Tusi and received special treatment. His arrival brought the sunshine and rain of Chinese culture to remote ethnic minority communities. He carefully guided the troupe of Rongmei Tusi to prepare a new complete version of "Peach Blossom Fan". After more than a month of careful rehearsal, Rongmei Tusi held a grand commemoration of Guan Gong's birthday, the main content of which was to stage Kong Shangren's "Peach Blossom Fan". According to "Rongmei Ji You", "On May 13th, the play was performed in the temple building of Xiliu City." The "Handwritten Photocopy of Traditional Drama of Southern Opera" provided by the Southern Opera Art Inheritance and Protection Center in Xianfeng County. Although the performance of "Peach Blossom Fan" caused a sensation, Kong Shangren's version of "Peach Blossom Fan" based on Kunqu Opera was still too gentle and elegant, and there was a great psychological distance from the local Tujia mountain people. Encouraged by Tian Shunnian and the actors of the Tusi Opera Troupe, Gu Cai decided to integrate local "Ba Qu" and "Chu Diao", and deeply adapt "Peach Blossom Fan" from content to singing. On May 16th, Gu Cai moved to Zhixi Pavilion in Yunlai Village and devoted himself to his second creation. Kong Shangren is skilled in creating "desk works" (literary scripts), while Gu Cai is well versed in the needs of stage presentation and actor rap, and is adept at transforming "desk works" into authentic "on stage works" (stage performance scripts). So, after forty days of living in the West Pavilion, Gu Cai's adaptation of "The Southern Peach Blossom Fan" emerged in the air. Regarding this, Kong Shangren commented: "Gu Zitianshi read 'Peach Blossom Fan' and then extended it to 'Southern Peach Blossom Fan'. This made Sheng Dan reunite on the spot to quickly catch the eye of the audience, and his lyrics were exquisite and alert, chasing after the river. 'Compared to Kong Shangren's original work,' Southern Peach Blossom Fan 'changed the fate of the protagonist and the protagonist from a tragic ending
