Recently, according to expert production testing, the salt alkali tolerant soybean variety "Zhongji 602" has produced 306.18 kilograms per mu in the saline alkali land of western Jilin. Experts say that this yield has created a typical high yield soybean in Northeast China's sandy and saline areas. Recently, 20 experts from multiple units such as the Major Tasks Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Seed Management Station of Jilin Province conducted actual harvest and production tests on salt alkali tolerant soybeans in the demonstration field of saline alkali land in Haladaobao Village, Bianzhao Town, Tongyu County, Baicheng City, Jilin Province. The "Zhongji 602" salt alkali tolerant soybean variety tested this time was selected by the excellent gene resource exploration and innovative utilization team of the Institute of Work of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Soybean Institute of the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration. Agricultural experts have fully explored the yield potential of this variety in saline alkali soil by implementing supporting cultivation measures such as fine water and fertilizer management in demonstration fields. At present, this variety has been promoted to more than 20000 mu in Baicheng, Gongzhuling, Lishu, Tongliao, Bayannur, Ordos, and other areas of Inner Mongolia. The western region of Jilin is one of the main distribution areas of the world's three major soda saline alkali lands. The saline alkali land here is characterized by poor soil fertility, high salinity, poor water and fertilizer retention, and generally low crop yield per unit area. Tongyu County is a typical saline alkali area in the local area, with a perennial soybean planting area of about 200000 mu and a yield of only about 100 kilograms per mu. Wang Yueqiang, a researcher at the Soybean Research Institute of the Jilin Academy of Agricultural Sciences, stated that in response to the salt alkali tolerance characteristics of "Zhongji 602", the promotion and application of supporting cultivation techniques such as reasonable dense planting and fine management of water and fertilizer in moderate saline alkali land in western Jilin and central and western Inner Mongolia will play an important role in expanding the area and increasing yield of salt alkali tolerant soybeans, improving saline alkali land, and increasing farmers' income in the future.
