It can be said that war is related to the life and death of a nation, the rise and fall of a country, and the evolution of the world pattern and the direction of human history. A strong country must first strengthen its military, and a strong military is the key to national security. History inspires us that a strong country must have a strong army as its backing, which is an unbreakable historical iron law. Today, in the face of such a era of great struggle and a world of great changes, we must comprehensively build a socialist modernized country and achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It will not be smooth sailing and easy, but will inevitably face severe challenges from all aspects, including military aspects. Only those who can fight can stop the war, those who are prepared to fight may not need to fight, and those who cannot fight are more likely to be attacked. In the new era and new journey, we must comprehensively promote the modernization of national defense and the military, achieve the centenary goal of building the military as scheduled, accelerate the construction of the people's army into a world-class military, build the "Steel Great Wall" to safeguard national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, provide strategic support for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, and make greater contributions to world peace and development. On August 1, 1927, a gun shot at the head of Nanchang announced the birth of the new people's army led by the CPC. The People's Army was born out of the cause of the Party, fought for national independence and people's liberation, and continuously strengthened in defending the achievements of socialist China's development. It is closely linked to the future and destiny of the Party and the country. The comprehensive modernization is the goal pursued by our country and the direction that the people's army has always been striving for. When New China was just established, the weapons and equipment of the people's army that had emerged from the war were very outdated. The weapons of the troops reviewed at the founding ceremony came from 24 countries, and none of the 17 planes participating in the parade were "made in China", indicating that the foundation of military development at that time was quite weak. In 1954, one of the "Four Modernizations" proposed by our party was "modernized national defense".
