New World Heritage Site! Besides Pu'er tea, what else is there in Jingmai Mountain?

When Jingmai Mountain's ancient tea forest was successfully applied for the World Heritage, Yunnan netizens cheered: "Thirteen years of hard work has finally brought about today's success!" Some tea friends said, "Is the price of Pu'er tea in Jingmai Mountain going to rise?" Tea traders immediately said, "Jingmai Mountain's Pu'er tea will never rise in price." On September 17, the project of "Pu'er Jingmai Mountain's ancient tea forest cultural landscape" was included in the The World Heritage List, becoming China's 57th World Heritage. In the eyes of many people, Pu'er is synonymous with Pu'er tea and is known as the "source of world tea". In Pu'er and Jingmai Mountain, tea is an ancient belief and a way of life. The local Bulang ethnic group believes that tea is equivalent to their life, and tea is used for ceremonies, weddings, funerals, and hospitality. When young men and women gather, the amount of tea the woman pours to the man expresses her level of affection. The tea tree that first sprouts in one's own tea forest is regarded as the tea soul tree and is the master of this tea garden. It cannot be picked casually, let alone cut down. The trunk of the Tea Soul Tree is usually tied with small baskets made of bamboo strips, used to hold offerings. Before picking new tea each year, the elderly in the family fast, bathe, change clothes, worship the tea ancestor, offer tea gods, light beeswax under the tea soul tree, offer tea and meals, and kneel down to recite scriptures. Every household has passed down this reverence for nature from generation to generation. 77 year old Su Guowen is the inheritor of the "Pu'er Tea Ancestral Worship Customs". In 2004, he retired and returned to Mangjing Village in Jingmai Mountain, dedicating himself wholeheartedly to the protection and inheritance of traditional culture. With the joint efforts of him and the villagers, in 2006, Mangjing Village restored the traditional festivals of the Bulang ethnic group, including "Shankang Tea Ancestor Festival", "Open Door Festival", and "Close Door Festival"... The concept of "Tea Soul" is gradually reviving. The clothing and food of Jingmai Mountain people mostly come from Tea Mountain. Tea, as an important ingredient and medicinal herb, has brought livelihoods to the local indigenous peoples. At present, there are over 70000 acres of tea gardens in Jingmai Mountain, and the income from tea planting and picking accounts for over 95% of the total income of the villagers. The uniqueness of Jingmai Mountain lies in its wisdom that spans thousands of years. The "Pu'er Jingmai Mountain Ancient Tea Forest Cultural Landscape" located in Lancang Lahu Autonomous County, Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, consists of 5 ancient tea forests, 9 ancient villages, and 3 separated protective forests. It is a typical representative of fully preserved and rich artificial cultivation of ancient tea forests. The 9 traditional villages in the core area of Jingmai Mountain's ancient tea forest cultural landscape are kept at a certain distance and even distributed on different mountain tops, taking into account the "environmental carrying capacity". The meticulous observation and continuous adaptation of the natural environment by the ancestors of Jingmai Mountain have led to successful experiences such as "harmony between heaven and man" and "harmony between man and earth", which have enabled the village and tea forest to achieve sustainable development for thousands of years. The symbiosis of forest and tea, as well as the harmony between humans and the environment, are the most distinctive symbols of the ancient tea forest cultural landscape in Jingmai Mountain. The villagers of Jingmai Mountain continue the traditional way of planting under the forest: develop tea forests in limited patches between the forests, reserve forests as separation and protection between the tea forests, preserve tall trees for shade, and maintain soil and water conservation with herbaceous plants and low shrubs around the tea trees. Insects and birds living in the forest help protect tea trees from pests. Tea trees should not be too densely planted, new buds should not be excessively picked, and manual intervention should be minimized as much as possible. Reasonable allocation and sustainable use of land have enabled them to create tea in the forest and villages in the tea forest
