The resources released this time mainly include various forms of existing ethnic minority written ancient books. In terms of text types, from the early Kharoshthi script to the more recent Manchu script, there are also Khotan script, Sogdian script, Dai script, Naxi Dongba script, hydrological script, etc. The resources released this time almost cover all ethnic minority characters that have been used or are still in use in the history of the Chinese nation. In the database of "Special Collection of Ancient Books in Various Ethnic Languages", there is an ancient "dictionary" - the "Three Thousand Books" from the Sino Vietnamese border area of Longzhou County, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. This is a calligraphy book that combines Chinese characters, ancient Zhuang characters, and Jing ethnic Luan characters. It is a reference book for learning Chinese characters and is named after collecting about 3000 Chinese characters. The style of the book is to annotate Chinese characters with Guzhuang and Luan characters, with Chinese characters in the front and large characters. The corresponding writing methods of Guzhuang and Luan characters are provided next to them, and their pronunciation and meaning are explained. This book reflects the need for the local Zhuang, Han, and Jing ethnic groups to learn language and script from each other, and reflects the process of mutual learning and cultural exchange among the local ethnic groups. For precious and fragile ancient book resources, digitization is currently the best way to balance protection and use, allowing ancient books to be reborn in the digital world.
