China Maritime Police Completed the 2023 North Pacific High Seas Fisheries Law Enforcement Cruise Mission

On the 11th, the China Maritime Police Bureau reported that the "Qushan Ship" and "Haimen Ship" of the Chinese maritime police have successfully completed the 2023 North Pacific high seas fisheries law enforcement cruise mission and returned to Shanghai smoothly. This is the 8th cruise conducted by the Chinese Coast Guard in the high seas of the North Pacific, lasting for 45 days, with a range of over 21000 nautical miles and a voyage time of over 2000 hours. The cruise passes through international straits such as Tsushima, Tianjin, and Dayu, and extends as far as the waters east of 180 degrees east longitude. The cruise range is further expanded, and the law enforcement capabilities in the high seas are further improved. During the cruise, the "Qushan Ship" and "Haimen Ship" conducted inspections and supervision of Chinese deep-sea fishing vessels and other contracting parties' fishing vessels in accordance with relevant resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly and international conventions and agreements such as the Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fisheries Resources in the North Pacific. They observed and recorded 77 fishing vessels of various types, and boarded and inspected 12 Chinese and foreign fishing vessels, actively promoting measures for the conservation and management of high seas fisheries resources, Timely verify and guide the rectification of violations of the Convention, fully fulfill the law enforcement responsibilities on the high seas, and demonstrate the demeanor of China's major maritime police. According to the law enforcement inspection, China's deep-sea fishing vessels operate in good order, and various maintenance and management measures are effectively implemented. As a major maritime fishery country and a member of the Convention on the Conservation and Management of High Seas Fisheries Resources in the North Pacific, the China Maritime Police dispatched ships to carry out fisheries law enforcement cruises in the North Pacific, which is of great significance for China to participate in global ocean governance, protect high seas fisheries resources, and showcase its image as a responsible major country.
