2023-09-08
Lu Zhao is the first number one scholar in history in the Jiangxi region. He is well-known for his literary style and integrity, with many beautiful stories passed down to later generations. In 818 AD, Lu Zhao was born into a desolate and scholarly family in Fenyi County, Jiangxi Province. His ancestor Lu Zhi was Liu Bei's teacher, and his great grandfather Lu Ting served as the governor of Yuanzhou (now Yichun, Jiangxi) during the reign of Emperor Dezong of the Tang Dynasty. However, his family declined when his father Lu Huating passed away. When Lu Zhao was young, "his home was empty on all sides, and there were no fat candles at night, so his salary was hot. When he woke up, he hated the stubborn and tasted the hanging thorns. Like Li Bai's "leaving Dakuang Mountain", the young Lu Zhao also had the story of "leaving Zhongshan Mountain". According to the "Hongwu Tuzhi", Lu Zhao's reading platform is located ten miles east of Fenyi County, with the name Zhongshan. Zhongshan, now known as the Fairy Lake Zhongshan Gorge Scenic Area, is as beautiful as a fairyland. Lu Zhao lived and studied in seclusion here. In the east of Yichun City, there is the Zhuangyuanzhou Cultural Park. Since Lu Zhao became the first top scorer in Jiangxi, the cultural heritage of the top scorer Zhou has continued continuously. In the Ming Dynasty, the "Lu Zhou Book House" was established on the top scholar continent for children to study; During the Wanli period, county officials advocated the construction of the "Three Yuan Pavilion", and later built the "Wen Biao Pavilion" behind the pavilion. To commemorate Lu Zhao, there is a "Lu Zhou Road" in the urban area of Yichun. In addition, places such as Longjiling and Zhangshu Shixi Temple in the southwest of Yichun City also have Lu Zhao Reading Platform sites. When Lu Zhao was 14 years old, the magistrate of Yichun County read his article and exclaimed, "It is a literary work, galloping up and down, magnificent and impressive." He prophesied, "It will be heard in the future!" He firmly believed that he would be famous in the world in the future. Going out to study, Lu Zhao entrusted the heavy burden of his family to his younger brother and wrote a seven piece poem "Sending Off My Brother", encouraging his poor family not to forget to study. The poem says: 'Go to the day, there is no burden for the family to store stones. You must work hard to cut and fish.'. The ancients traveled far into the dust, plowing day and night reading. In the poem "Yang Liuzhi Ci", Lu Zhao wrote, "If you return with a long gift, don't be afraid of wind, frost, and hardship", indicating his own intentions. Li Deyu, the famous prime minister of the Tang Dynasty, had a mentor disciple relationship with Lu Zhao. Lu Zhao's literary talent and calligraphy were appreciated by Li Deyu and became his favorite disciple. In 843 AD, Lu Zhao went to Beijing to take the imperial examination and became the first top scorer in Jiangxi province since the establishment of the imperial examination system. The quota for admission to the Tang Dynasty imperial examination was limited, with only 22 candidates on the same list as Lu Zhao. There is also a story about Lu Zhao's entry into the capital to win the championship that will make future generations happy. There was also a fellow villager who went to Beijing to take the exam with Lu Zhao back then. His family is wealthy, while Lu Zhao's family is poor. The county governor only gave banquets to his fellow villagers and ignored Lu Zhao. Lu Zhao wrote a poem titled 'Farewell to Yichun and Go for Exam', vowing to win fame and fame. The poem says: In autumn, the grass and trees are rustling and sparse. Looking west at Qin Pass, I bid farewell to my old residence. On the banquet, fragrant bottles of today's wine, yellow scrolls of ancient books in the trunk. Leaving my hometown and accompanying the reeds and geese, I will eventually become a horned fish when I enter the sea. The long and short nine skies fly straight up, without teaching the feather to fall into emptiness. Lu Zhao returned to Yichun after winning the top spot exam. The county governor quickly held a banquet to welcome him. At that time, it was the Dragon Boat Festival, and the governor invited him to watch the dragon boat race together. When he saw one of the dragon boats winning the first place, he was moved and recited a poem on the spot. The poem says: Shixi has been living for a long time thinking about the Dragon Boat Festival, watching the hair machine in front of the post office building. When the drum is stirring, thunder is faint, and the beast's head is slightly covered in snow. The rushing waves protrude and people gather together, leaping over the waves and competing for the bird to retreat. Xiang Dao, Dragon Gang, did not believe it and indeed won the championship.
