Journalists Nie Hongjie and Wang Fei reported that on the morning of September 4th, the Chinese Navy Qi Jiguang set sail from a military port in Qingdao to carry out a sea internship mission, and visited three countries: Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Fiji. It is understood that more than 300 Chinese students who interned and visited the ship come from three naval academies: Naval Engineering University, Naval Submarine Academy, and Naval Aviation University. Ten naval cadets from Thailand, Pakistan, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Fiji were mixed and trained with Chinese cadets. During a voyage of over a month, the Qi Jiguang ship will sail through the East China Sea, South China Sea, Java Sea, Coral Sea and other sea areas, crossing important strait waterways such as the Taiwan Strait, the Karimata Strait, and the Torres Strait. During the voyage, the ship will organize students to conduct teaching and training in 16 different subjects, including geography navigation, astronomy navigation, ocean hydrological and meteorological analysis and application. During the period of berthing at foreign ports, Chinese students will engage in a series of friendly exchange activities with the foreign side. It is reported that this mission aims to enhance the adaptability and practical operation ability of naval growth officers, strengthen practical cooperation and mutual trust with visiting countries at sea, and contribute actively to the construction of a maritime community with a shared future. The Qi Jiguang ship, with a full displacement of nearly 10000 tons, was launched and put into service in February 2017. It is affiliated with a training ship detachment of the Dalian Naval Academy of the Navy. Since joining the fleet, the ship has completed multiple batches of over 7000 naval academy students' maritime internships, participated in major missions such as the 70th anniversary of the Navy's establishment, naval parades in the South China Sea, and visits to four Eurasian countries. It has also visited more than 10 countries, including Thailand, Italy, and New Zealand, making it a truly "maritime mobile university". (New News Agency)
