At the 2023 Brazil International Railway Equipment Exhibition, as one of the largest exhibitors, China Railway Corporation (CRRC) showcased and released a series of new products and technologies, attracting visitors to stop. In front of the exhibition stand, there were business partners gathering for consulting products and negotiating cooperation, China's rail transit equipment services in Brazil have received a lot of praise. At the exhibition, Liu Yang, the head of CRRC Changke's subsidiary in Brazil, met many old friends. A Brazilian Rio Metro official who had close cooperation with CRRC made a special trip to the CRRC booth, "Liu Yang said. The cooperation between Rio Metro and CRRC Changke has been going on for over 10 years, and this trust is not easy to come by. Every sincere communication and solution to every problem is a bonus for Made in China. Brazil, as one of the BRICS countries, is an important economic entity in South America, giving China a perfect score for new cars. For a long time, most rail vehicles in Brazil were products of the last century, and the rail transit equipment market has great potential. In 2008, CRRC Changke Co., Ltd. dispatched a business team to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to start market tracking and research. In November of the same year, CRRC received the bidding documents for the Rio intercity electric vehicle unit, and also participated in the bidding process with renowned companies in the industry such as Alstom from France, CAF from Spain, and ROTEM from South Korea. After fierce competition, CRRC won first place and won the project procurement contract for 120 intercity electric train units. This is the first time that a Chinese made railway passenger train has been exported to South America. Recalling his experience during the bidding process, Liu Yang still remembers vividly: "Over 30 hours of long-distance flight, the agony of sleepless nights during the bidding period, and the tug of war without gunpowder on the negotiation table, what supports us is our confidence in Made in China." "In order to win the bid, we carefully studied the actual needs of the owner and the world's advanced industry standards." Wang Chengtao said. As the Deputy Director of CRRC Changke National Rail Transit Engineering Research Center, he has previously led the design work of the Rio intercity high-speed train unit. Some of the lines operated by EMUs need to be mixed with railway freight cars, which requires EMUs to have high strength. The standards adopted by CRRC can meet the requirement of not producing fatigue failure under 40 years of working load. The longitudinal compressive load of the vehicle body is 363 tons, which is 2.5 times the design standard of European urban rail, making the Rio intercity electric train the strongest urban rail vehicle in the world at that time. CRRC Changke has also set up an "extra line of defense", with a special overspeed protection device installed. When the train's operating speed reaches the speed limit, a beep warning will be automatically issued. When the set speed limit is exceeded, the train will automatically apply emergency braking. It is precisely because of these customized designs that Brazilian customers ultimately decided to choose Made in China. Signing of project procurement contract
