On August 28th, the China Internet Network Information Center released its 52nd Statistical Report on the Development of China's Internet (hereinafter referred to as the "Report") in Beijing. According to the report, as of June 2023, the number of internet users in China reached 1.079 billion, an increase of 11.09 million compared to December 2022, and the internet penetration rate reached 76.4%. The report shows that China's digital infrastructure construction is further accelerating, and resource applications are constantly enriching. As of June this year, China has a total of 30.24 million domain names, 767 million active IPv6 users, 1.11 billion internet broadband access ports, and a total length of 61.96 million kilometers of fiber optic cables. Mobile internet applications are thriving, with 2.6 million active apps monitored in the domestic market, further covering the daily learning, work, and life of netizens. The foundation of the Internet of Things has been continuously consolidated, and three basic telecommunications companies have developed 2.123 billion cellular IoT terminal users, a net increase of 279 million compared to December 2022, accounting for 55.4% of the total number of mobile network terminal connections. The industrial internet infrastructure continues to improve, and the "5G+industrial internet" is rapidly developing. According to the report, there are over 16000 virtual private networks in the 5G industry nationwide. There are over 240 industrial internet platforms with certain influence, and China has basically formed a comprehensive, characteristic, and professional multi-level industrial internet platform system. According to the report, in the first half of this year, various types of internet applications in China continued to develop, and the number of users for multiple types of applications increased to a certain extent. As of June, the number of users for instant messaging, online video, and short video remained stable in the top three, reaching 1.047 billion, 1.044 billion, and 1.026 billion, respectively, with user utilization rates of 97.1%, 96.8%, and 95.2%. At the same time, the user base of ride hailing, online travel booking, and online literature increased by 34.92 million, 30.91 million, and 35.92 million respectively compared to December 2022, with growth rates of 8.0%, 7.3%, and 7.3%, making them the three fastest growing applications in terms of user base.
