On August 20th, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abdullah Heyyan upon request. Wang Yi stated that in February this year, President Lech successfully paid a state visit to China, and the two heads of state reached a new important consensus on China Iran cooperation, leading China Iran relations to a new level. Both sides are fully implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promoting continuous development of exchanges and cooperation in various fields. China is willing to continue to firmly support each other with Iran on issues related to each other's core interests, jointly oppose foreign interference, resist unilateral bullying, defend the sovereignty, security, and development interests of China and Iran, and safeguard the common interests of developing countries and international fairness and justice. Wang Yi said that after the Israeli-Saharan Beijing Dialogue, both sides have continued to take steps to improve their relations, leading to the formation of a "wave of reconciliation" in the Middle East. China appreciates the correct decision made by the Iraqi side and will continue to support Middle Eastern countries in exploring development paths that are in line with their own national conditions, strengthen communication and dialogue, adhere to unity and self-improvement, and achieve good neighborly friendship. Abdullahian said that Iraq attaches great importance to the development of Iran China comprehensive strategic partnership, looks forward to maintaining high-level exchanges with China, deepening cooperation under the "the Belt and Road" framework, and strengthening coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs. Thank you to the Chinese side for promoting the normalization of relations between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, and highly appreciate the constructive role played by the Chinese side in this regard.
