On August 16th, Wang Yi, a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Gunawadna, Lao Vice President Bani, Nepalese Vice President Yadav, and Vietnamese Vice Prime Minister Chen Liuguang in Kunming as requested. Gunawadna expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for firmly supporting Sri Lanka in maintaining independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and for providing timely and effective assistance when Sri Lanka faces difficulties. Wang Yi said that China appreciates Sri Lanka for always adhering to friendship with China and standing with China on issues related to China's core interests. We also firmly support Sri Lanka in safeguarding its sovereignty, independence, and national dignity. We are willing to strengthen exchanges of experience in governance and cooperation in various fields with Sri Lanka, help Sri Lanka effectively respond to the challenges of financial debt issues, improve its ability for independent development, break free from the "poverty trap" and "non development trap", and accelerate the industrialization process and agricultural modernization level. Barney expressed that Laos is willing to work with China to implement the important consensus of the highest leaders of the two parties and countries, close high-level exchanges, deepen political mutual trust, strengthen cooperation in various fields of economy, trade, investment, and tourism, and create a model of a community with a shared future for Laos and China. Wang Yi stated that both China and Laos are socialist countries with shared ideals and shared strategic interests. We are willing to continue to understand and trust each other, support and assist each other, strengthen development strategy alignment, expand all-round and all-round cooperation, and translate high-level important consensus into tangible cooperation results, bringing more benefits to the people of both countries. Yadav stated that Nepal has always prioritized its foreign policy towards China and will continue to firmly adhere to the One China policy, adhere to political commitments, and never allow any force to use Nepal's territory for anti China activities. Wang Yi expressed that China values the traditional friendship between China and Nepal and will continue to firmly support Nepal in safeguarding sovereignty, security, and development interests, and pursue a development path that is in line with its own national conditions. We are willing to work with Nepal to promote the construction of a generation friendly strategic partnership for development and prosperity. Both sides should prepare for high-level exchanges in the next stage, further deepen strategic mutual trust, jointly maintain political and institutional security, and jointly uphold the Party's ideals, beliefs, and socialist direction. We look forward to positive results from the series of East Asian Cooperation Leaders' Meetings under the joint efforts of ASEAN countries such as Vietnam. Chen Liuguang stated that developing relations with China has always been a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy.
