On the highlands of the Guangxi border, every face is still as young as when they set out on the expedition

The highland of life, which Jia Yong has haunted me, is located on a mountain at an altitude of 511.3 meters on the border of Guangxi. The first time I climbed this highland was a rainy evening. The former Political Department of the Guangzhou Military Region followed the practice of publishing "Volunteer Army One Day" during the Anti American and Aid Korea period and prepared to publish a collection of documentary essays. With some writing skills, I was sent to the forefront of the battlefield to gather and write battle stories. The dying sun is like blood. After the fierce battle, there were no trees or grass on the main battlefield, only the dense craters with terrifying mouths open. The soldiers who were repairing the fortification dug out a bloody corpse from the soil, with a light machine gun in their right hand... "It's the squad leader!" the soldiers shouted. The machine gunner's name is Duan Yusheng, 22 years old, and he is the squad leader of the Sharp Knife class. After clearing the battlefield after the war, his comrades never found Duan Yusheng. Unexpectedly, his body was found in the soil more than one meter deep. Tears suddenly flowed like rain. That solemn and stirring scene has left me unforgettable to this day. Among the comrades who sacrificed in that battle were my classmate Ye Yongning, who had previously studied in the same news short training class as me. Just as I followed the artillery troops to the front line, Ye Yongning followed the infantry troops to the forefront of the highlands. Ye Yongning is from Nanxiong, Guangdong. Before joining the army, he worked at his hometown's arts and crafts factory. After joining the army, he was drafted to the reporting team of the battalion. At that time, there were no cameras at the border defense battalion level, and soldiers like Ye Yongning with some artistic background used paintbrushes to record battlefield life. A few days later, news of Ye Yongning's sacrifice came. At first, I couldn't believe it was true. A few days later, two Paper Cuttings works published in the Soldier Daily of the former Guangzhou Military Area Command smashed my last fluke -- Ye Yongning's name was covered with thick black boxes. He sacrificed himself in the process of transporting shells. Those two Paper Cuttings have become the last words of 19 year old Ye Yongning forever... 42 years later, the small trees planted by the soldiers on the battlefield have grown out of sight. Climbing along the rugged mountain road shaded by green trees, scenes of past events emerge before my eyes. My division was guarding a border defense line of several hundred kilometers at that time. The young political commissar Wen Zizhong has a solid and hardworking style, and often takes me to the border defense on weekends. A division political commissar, a young official, an off-road vehicle, a driver and security guard, stop wherever there are sentries and all positions, and eat whatever you encounter. Everyone gathered together and finished smoking a pack of cigarettes from the political commissar, and the usual symposium ended. This has given me a lot of education and accumulated several vivid stories. At that time, our army circulated a battlefield poem written after the martyr Xia Minghan's martyr's death poem, called "It doesn't matter if you suffer losses, as long as you are honest, if you lose me, you will be happy for one billion people. On the Qingming Festival of 1985, Li Chunxiao, a senior journalist from the Yangcheng Evening News, made a special trip to the army to search for the author of battlefield poetry. That poem was originally composed by soldiers, and after searching for a few days, I couldn't find the specific author. But the stories I told that happened around me still infected Li Chunxiao, and she asked me to write them down. Li Chunxiao is over fifty years old and very dedicated. In just one night, he wrote an excellent communication titled "Tracking the First Battle Poem", which was first published on April 15th of that year in "Yangcheng Evening"
