In previous historical records, there was no record of Fu Ri, as Fu Qian, a scholar of the Eastern Han Dynasty, said, "There was no Fu during the Zhou Dynasty... it was written by Qin Shi. Of course, some scholars believe that the so-called "Chufu" only refers to the first time the Qin State held a Furi ritual activity, and does not represent the first time China established Furi. So, where exactly does the 'Fu Sun' come from? The true meaning of "Fu" in the "Fu Sun" theory of the Yin Yang Five Elements has been debated throughout history and modern times. Tang Dynasty scholar Sima Zhen's "Records of the Grand Historian Suo Yin" cites the book "Li Ji Shi", which records the taboos of the ancient Chinese calendar, as saying, "What is the name of the Golden Qi Fu Cang?" He believes that Fu Ri is the day when the Golden Qi hidden in the Five Elements of Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth is hidden. The four seasons cycle in spring, summer, autumn, and winter, and the five elements of wood, fire, earth, gold, and water coexist. According to the time distribution of the Five Elements Qi in the alternation of the four seasons, starting from the winter solstice, in the 360 days of the lunar year, wood Qi, fire Qi, earth Qi, gold Qi, and water Qi each account for 72 days. The explanation of "Fu Ri" in "Li Ji Shi" using the five elements may seem reasonable, but in reality, it is plausible. That is, winter generates spring with water, spring generates fire with wood, and autumn generates winter with gold with water. However, when it comes to gold and fire, the relationship that should have been the relationship between fire and gold has become "gold fears fire" and therefore "fu". There is a saying that true gold is not afraid of fire, and gold refined from fire is not afraid of fire. At the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, scholar Yan Shigu preserved the explanation of the association between "Fu Ri" and the Five Elements Jin and Tian Gan Geng when annotating the "Han Shu Jiao Si Zhi". At the same time, he also believed that after the summer solstice, Yin Qi gradually rose, but was suppressed and hindered by Yang Qi, making it impossible to rise and could only temporarily hide Fu Ri. Yan Shigu identified the subject of "Fu" in "Fu Ri" as Yin Qi, believing that "Fu Ri" is the accumulation of Yin Qi in Yang Qi. However, another scholar from the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Shoujie, although he also cited the records in "Li Ji Shi" in "Shi Ji Zheng Yi", did not fully agree with this. Instead, he added his own understanding of "Fu Ri", that is, "Fu Ri is a person who hides to avoid the scorching summer heat." He chose to "hide" to avoid the scorching summer heat.
