This is a microcosm of the lives of the ancestors of the Dahe Village site located on the alluvial plain in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River over 5000 years ago. On August 8th, the "Walking Henan: Understanding China" archaeological discovery gathering interview team walked into the Dahecun Site Museum in Zhengzhou. They visited various relics, listened to the stories behind each cultural relic, and felt the creativity of the ancestors in the initial stage of Chinese civilization. The Dahecun Site, a village where Han Zhangyun observed the stars, is a large prehistoric settlement site that includes Yangshao Culture, Longshan Culture, and Xia Shang Culture, dating back approximately 6800 to 3500 years. Archaeological excavations indicate that the ancestors lived and multiplied in Dahe Village for over 3300 years, creating a brilliant ancient culture. In the academic community, the Dahe Village Site has a romantic name - "Village under the Starry Sky". According to Hu Jizhong, the director of the Dahecun Site Museum, this is related to the numerous patterns on Yangshao period painted pottery unearthed in Dahecun. The decorative patterns of painted pottery unearthed at the Dahecun site contain many astronomical elements. Han Zhangyun took a photo of the sun patterns on the painted pottery bowl at the Dahe Village site. After restoration, there were twelve sun patterns, which may have sprouted the concept of observing and timing at that time. The unearthed painted pottery was decorated with comet patterns that record comets, constellation patterns that reflect the tail of the Big Dipper, halo patterns that reflect atmospheric optical phenomena, seven dot patterns that reflect the Pleiades star cluster, moon patterns that reflect lunar phases, and so on. Hu Jizhong said that Dahe Village first used painted pottery patterns to record the stars in the sky, This indicates that primitive astronomical knowledge has already sprouted. The "three bedroom and one living room" luxury mansion features a "cement" display in the Dahecun Site Museum, which has a strong sense of "crossing through" - a gray, flat surface floor block that looks like modern cement blocks were placed in a glass display cabinet. Hu Jizhong introduced to reporters that this is a floor block of a house in the late Yangshao period. Archaeological discoveries have shown that some of the foundations and floors of the Dahecun site were specially laid with a mixture of large sand, clay, and gravel powder, with a thickness of 4 to 5 centimeters per layer. After leveling, ramming, and troweling, they were roasted over fire to a greenish gray color, similar in color and hardness to the current cement floor. In addition, Han Zhangyun's photography shows that the creativity of the ancestors of Dahe Village in architecture is more reflected in their unique way of building houses. Archaeological discoveries have shown that among the many ground style houses built by the ancestors of Dahe Village, the "wooden bone shaping" construction technique has always been used. Using wood as the skeleton, the wooden bones were wrapped in grass mixed with mud to build a wall. The sides were polished with fine mud, and after being burned with high fire, thatched grass was erected, making it the most luxurious "three rooms and one hall" at that time. Inside the house, there are fire stands, fire walls, and even doorsills, as well as "high-end artworks" such as painted pottery double pots and white colored pottery bowls. There is a courtyard outside the house, and both indoor and outdoor facilities are complete. The "luxury house" is sturdy, durable, and moisture-proof.
