Why Are "Training Loans" Targeting College Students with the bait of part-time jobs

2023-08-07

During the summer vacation, many "training loans" targeted college students who wanted to earn living expenses, tuition fees, and subsidize their families. A reporter from Zhongqing Daily and Zhongqing. com recently learned from Fengxian Branch of Shanghai Public Security Bureau that the bureau has successfully destroyed two new "training loan" fraud gangs and captured 154 suspect. More than 80% of the more than 400 victims we have contacted are college students and treasure mothers, "said Fang Binbin, the leader of the Legal Trial Team of the Criminal Investigation Detachment of the Fengxian Branch of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau, who participated in the entire six-month case investigation work. The so-called "training loan" trap refers to the behavior of some unscrupulous training institutions misleading students and other groups to borrow and pay training fees on online loan platforms by offering tempting promises such as part-time jobs and employment opportunities. These trainings are often "not in line with reality", and subsequent part-time opportunities cannot be fulfilled. However, the victims face difficulties in refunding fees and pressure to repay loans. Not long ago, the National Student Aid Management Center of the Ministry of Education issued the first warning in 2023, which is "Be vigilant against the 'training loan' trap". A reporter from China Youth Daily and China Youth Network found that there have been 19490 recent complaints about "training loans" on the Black Cat Consumer Complaints Platform. Many complainants have reported on the platform that it is difficult to protect their rights. A college student with an annual living expenses of 5000 yuan bought a "fake training" for 4980 yuan. Fang Binbin introduced that the Fengxian police discovered clues during regular inspections of telecommunications fraud. "At that time, there were particularly many complaints about 'training loans', and many people said they couldn't protect their rights, so they lost the lawsuit. In actual contact with the victims, the police found that many of the victims were college students from financially disadvantaged families. A student attending a university in Shanxi has an annual living allowance of only 5000 yuan. In order to subsidize household expenses, the college student found a so-called "gold medal editor" training course online, with a 10 day training fee of 4980 yuan. Due to financial constraints, the college student chose a "training loan", but later found out that he had been taken in. The training and enrollment advertisement posted online by Shanxi Moqin Education Technology Co., Ltd. states: "You can easily master professional editing skills without spending a penny," and "Gold medal editors can take on part-time orders and achieve professional dreams. As long as you take 7-10 days of video production training classes, you can proficiently master three professional level software. After learning to use these software, students can also take orders for video production from the company to make money. "Junior student Xiao Rui was attracted by this enrollment advertisement, but because she couldn't afford to pay the training fee all at once, she chose the discount measure introduced by the sales teacher" thoughtfully "-" training loan ". This measure is clear: Xiaorui can apply for payment in 12 installments on a certain installment platform, and after adding a few yuan to each payment, it will cost over 400 yuan. After completing their studies, they can apply for vocational skills training subsidies from relevant departments and receive video orders in the training company's group, ultimately without paying a penny. However, not long after enrolling in the course, Xiaorui found that the content taught in the course was common basic operational knowledge online, and did not have much value. She not only couldn't drop out of class, but also got into a "debt": on payment day
