On August 1, the country's first collaborative delivery room neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) jointly built by the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University and the Affiliated Children's Hospital was launched in the Jiangnan hospital area of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. The newborn rescue teams of two hospitals will provide 24-hour seamless protection, opening up the "green channel of life" for critically ill pregnant women and newborns, in order to effectively reduce the disability and mortality rates of newborns. It is reported that the NICU in this delivery room has the ability to comprehensively treat common neonatal internal diseases, critical illnesses, and extremely premature infants. It also has a neonatal intensive care unit and an isolation neonatal room. Unlike obstetrics and NICUs in general hospitals, this delivery room NICU is managed by obstetrics and built in the obstetrics ward, which can monitor high-risk newborns in real-time and provide emergency treatment.
