Since 2022, the Procuratorate of Pingdu City has taken food security as the biggest public welfare, focusing on the health of every inch of land, every river and every seed, adhering to the procuratorial work concept of attaching equal importance to "crime" and "governance", relying on the integrated development of "four major procurators", actively protecting food production safety, and escorting the rural revitalization demonstration area to accelerate construction. After legal review, on March 9, 2023, the Pingdu Procuratorate filed a criminal incidental civil public interest lawsuit against Yang Xiao and ordered him to repair the damaged land. During the trial of the case, after interpreting the law and reasoning, Yang Xiao voluntarily pleaded guilty to punishment, refunded all illegal gains, and paid 100000 yuan in ecological environment damage repair fees. On April 4th, the court sentenced Yang Xiao to eight months in prison, suspended for one year, and fined 20000 yuan. The realization of clear and abundant water resources in rivers and reservoirs has nurtured Pingdu's advantage in grain production capacity. Pingdu has two major water systems, namely, Beijiaolai River and Dagu River, with 95 larger rivers and 138 reservoirs. Among them, Dazeshan Reservoir is an important medium-sized comprehensive water conservancy hub in the local area, carrying important functions such as flood control, irrigation, and water supply, and is a first-class water source protection zone.
