The second Russia Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum opened in St. Petersburg, Russia on the 27th. Russian President Putin delivered a speech stating that Russia will soon provide free food to some African countries. The summit is a two-day event attended by representatives from dozens of African countries. The summit will be held in the form of exhibitions, sub forums, round tables, and other forms, with topics related to addressing common challenges and deepening cooperation between Russia and Africa in fields such as food, energy, space technology, information technology, education, and sports. Putin said at the plenary meeting of the Economic and Humanitarian Forum held on the same day that Russia will be ready to provide 25000 to 50000 tons of food free of charge to Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, the Central African Republic, and Eritrea within 3 to 4 months, and provide free transportation. Putin also mentioned that since the signing of the Agreement on the Export of Agricultural Products from the Black Sea Port, over 70% of Ukraine's exported grain has flowed into high-income and middle-income countries, including EU countries. Meanwhile, the commitment to eliminate obstacles to Russia's export of food and fertilizers has not been fulfilled so far. Therefore, the Russian side will no longer continue to extend the agreement. The rotating presidency of the African Union, President Azali of the Comoros, stated that the crisis in Ukraine has seriously affected food supply and hopes that all parties involved will facilitate the transportation of food from Ukraine and Russia to Africa. The first Russia Africa Summit was held in Sochi, Russia, in October 2019, focusing on Russia Africa cooperation in political, security and economic fields. (New News Agency)
