The latest major discovery of the "Chinese Eye" reveals the pulse of the black hole

On July 27, the National Astronomical Observatories of China announced to the media that the latest blockbuster research achievement in the field of astronomy, the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope (FAST), known as the "Chinese Celestial Eye", has observed the phenomenon of low frequency radio quasi periodic oscillation at the sub second level in X-ray binary#Microquasar for the first time in the world, and revealed that this quasi periodic oscillation phenomenon in the black hole system is directly related to Astrophysical jet. The latest major discovery of the "Chinese Eye" reveals the artistic imagination of the black hole's "pulse". The picture provided by the National Astronomical Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatories of China, which reveals the complex dynamic characteristics of the black hole jet, is known by astronomers as the "pulse" of black hole radio radiation. Its discovery and disclosure research was jointly completed by the international cooperation research team jointly led by the Department of Astronomy of Wuhan University and the National Astronomical Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatories of China. On the night of July 26, Beijing time, the related achievement paper was published online in the international academic journal Nature under the title of "Subsecond periodic radio oscillation in X-ray binary#Microquasar". Astronomers say that the discovery of the "pulse" of black hole radio radiation has important scientific significance for revealing the origin and dynamic process of relativistic radio jets in dense celestial bodies, and will open up new ideas for black hole radio observation and theoretical research. According to Wang Pei, one of the authors of the paper and an associate researcher at the National Astronomical Observatory of the National Astronomical Observatories of China, X-ray binary#Microquasar is a binary star system composed of a Neutron star or black hole and an ordinary star in the Milky Way. The matter of Neutron star or black hole accretion stars generates high-temperature Accretion disk and relativistic jets, which are observed as intermittent or Secular variation X-ray and radio radiation, It is a natural cosmic laboratory for studying strong Gravitational field and relativistic physics. GRS1915+105 is a famous X-ray binary#Microquasar, which contains a fast rotating black hole and is observed with radio jets moving at apparent Superluminal motion. It is an important sample for studying extreme high-energy physical processes. For nearly 30 years since its discovery, GRS1915+105 black hole has been characterized by rich X-ray variability and intermittent radio jets. However, scientists are still unclear about the dynamics of the black hole jet and the origin of rapid variability. In this study, in order to unveil the mystery of the Astrophysical jet of X-ray binary#Microquasar, the international cooperative research team led by Chinese scientists will use the "Chinese Celestial Eye" to carry out the first high-precision radio continuous spectrum light change and polarization monitoring of GRS1915+105 from 2020 to 2022, and further use the advantages of the "Chinese Celestial Eye" in high sampling and detection sensitivity, In both observations in January 2021 and June 2022, it was found that the black hole had a weak radio "pulse" with a period of approximately 0.2 seconds. The research team stated that due to the instability of this' pulse 'cycle and the inability to detect it for most of the time, it is referred to as quasi periodic oscillation. (New News Agency)
