Commemorating the Music Pioneers and Cultivating New Bridge Builders - The 88th Anniversary Commemorative Event of Nie Er's Death Held in Japan

The solemn "March of the Volunteers" sounded again on the 17th at Honuma Coast, Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture Prefecture, Japan. More than 100 Chinese and Japanese people from all walks of life gathered in Nieer Memorial Square to present flowers to Nieer Memorial, and jointly commemorate Nier, the music pioneer respected by the Chinese people and the composer of the national anthem of the China. On July 17, 1935, Nie Er unfortunately drowned while swimming on the Hulnuma Coast at the age of 23. A song that serves the country and startles the world, and bridges are built between the two places to benefit the people. In 1981, Tengze became a Sister city with Nieer's hometown, Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, because of Nieer's affinity. At the commemoration, Wu Jiang Hao, the Chinese ambassador to Japan, said that Nie Er sang for the country and cried for the people in his short and brilliant life, created a large number of inspiring music works represented by the national anthem of the China, and encouraged the Chinese people to fight against Japanese militarism aggression and save the national crisis. He said that this year is the 45th anniversary of the conclusion of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and China. We should always learn from history, never forget our original intention, cherish peace, build friendship together, and work together to build China–Japan relations that meet the requirements of the new era. Tsuneo Suzuki, the mayor of Fujisawa, said that Nieer's commemoration is of far-reaching significance, which plays an important role not only in Fujisawa and Kunming, but also in the friendship between Japan and China. We will cherish the long history of friendship between the two countries and cities, and actively engage in exchanges through the friendly ties connected by Nie Er. On the top of the mountain of Enoshima, a tourist attraction in Tengze City, there is a Chinese style garden Chunze Garden jointly built by Tengze City and Kunming City. Tengze also donated money to build the Kunming Friendship Museum in Kunming as a place for cultural exchange between China and Japan. For many years, the two cities have sent visiting groups of citizens to each other, jointly held speech competitions and traditional cultural activities, and cultivated a large number of young students and friendly individuals who have devoted themselves to Sino Japanese friendship. This year, Tengze City specially invited the delegation of Kunming Municipal Government to visit Japan and participate in this commemorative activity. In his speech, An Enfa, Vice Mayor of Kunming, said that let's jointly remember Mr. Nier, face the future together, continue to carry forward the tradition of friendly exchanges between Kunming and Fujisawa, further enhance mutual understanding, strengthen exchanges and cooperation, and work for the friendship between the Chinese and Japanese people from generation to generation. Four winners from the 13th Caiyun Foundation Japanese Speech Competition and the 2nd Xiangnan Chinese Speech Competition also participated in the commemorative event. The Chairman of the Xiangnan Japan-China Friendship Association, Toshi Ueno, said that inviting young people from both countries to participate in Nie Er commemoration activities is to hope that the Japan-China friendship and Nie Er's deeds can be passed down from generation to generation. Huang Zeqiao from Yunnan University told reporters that during her visit to Japan, she really felt that the efforts made by Japanese people to promote friendly exchanges between the two countries would play a unique role for the youth generation in China Japan friendship. Kota Biyi from Showa Women's University in Japan will study in China in September. She looks forward to learning Chinese well during her study abroad, gaining a better understanding of China's history and culture, and making her own contribution to promoting university student exchanges between the two countries after returning to Japan.
