Dong Jingwei was appointed Director of the Office for the Maintenance of National Security of the Office for Safeguarding National Security. John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Office for Safeguarding National Security, welcomed the appointment by the State Council of Dong Jingwei as Director of the Office for the Maintenance of National Security of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. John Lee Ka-chiu said that the SAR government will continue to maintain close communication and cooperation with the National Security Agency, do its utmost to implement the Hong Kong National Security Law, and fulfill the responsibilities and obligations of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in safeguarding national security.
