International research team has drawn a human heart cell map

An international research team recently published a paper in the British journal Nature stating that they have developed the most comprehensive and comprehensive human heart cell atlas to date, covering 8 parts of the heart and 75 cell states. This study was participated in by institutions such as the Wellcome Sanger Institute in the UK and is part of the international project "Human Cell Atlas". The new map is equivalent to a molecular level "guide map" of the heart, which can help deepen understanding of the operation of heart cells, explore the pathogenesis of heart diseases, and develop new therapies. The researchers used tissue samples from 25 Heart transplantation donors, combined with Single-cell sequencing and spatial Transcriptome sequencing technology, to describe various heart cells and their microenvironment in detail. These donors are aged between 20 and 75 years old and have no history of heart disease or arrhythmia, and their cells represent the normal state of adult heart cells. A highlight of the new atlas is the description of the "power supply network" of the heart - the heart conduction system, including the detailed structure of the Sinoatrial node at the cardiac pacemaker, as well as the interaction between pacemaker cells and cardiac glial cells, which will help prevent and treat arrhythmia. The study also found that there is an immune structure composed of Plasma cell on the epicardium, which can produce antibodies to resist infection from the lungs. The research team has also developed a computational tool that can predict the effects of drugs on heart cells, including targets and adverse reactions. The tool shows that cardiac pacemaker cells will produce target molecules of the diabetes drug GLP1, which may be the reason why the drug will lead to faster heartbeat. (New News Agency)
