2023-07-13
On July 12th local time, China, Russia, and Indonesia held a tripartite meeting in Jakarta. Wang Yi, Director of the Central Foreign Affairs Office, attended the meeting. Wang Yi stated that the current century long changes in the world are accelerating, with weak global economic recovery and increasing geopolitical tensions. However, the trend of seeking peace, promoting development, and seeking cooperation is unstoppable, and world multipolarization, economic globalization, and democratization of international relations are still the general trend. All countries urgently need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation, practice genuine multilateralism, jointly address risks and challenges, and work together to build a Community of Common Destiny. China, Russia, and Indonesia are both representatives of emerging markets and important members of the G20. Conducting exchanges and cooperation is in the common interests of the three countries, helping to promote the process of multilateralism and promote regional peace and stability. As a dialogue partner of ASEAN, China supports a regional cooperation architecture centered around ASEAN, and supports ASEAN countries to firmly grasp the correct direction of East Asian cooperation and accelerate the construction of the ASEAN community. Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov and Indonesian Foreign Minister Reteno introduced their views on the current international and regional situation, believing that this meeting is a beneficial attempt for trilateral dialogue and exchange, demonstrating the consensus of the three parties on maintaining the central position of ASEAN and the ASEAN approach, and will continue to maintain communication on this matter. The three parties also exchanged views on food and energy security, believing that global governance should be improved to ensure smooth supply chains and ensure food and energy security in developing countries.
