On July 6th, the 13.65-meter large-diameter shield tunneling machine of the "Craftsmanship" on the Pazhou branch line safely and accurately arrived at the receiving steel sleeve, marking the smooth arrival of the shield tunneling machine for the first large-diameter shield tunneling tunnel in the central urban area of Guangzhou - the section between Pazhou Station and Beigang Park in the Pearl River Delta Intercity Pazhou Branch Line, and also marking the smooth "tunnel connection" of the entire Pearl River Delta Intercity Pazhou Branch Line on schedule. The section tunnel of Pazhou Branch Line is 4366 meters long and constructed using a 13.65 meter large diameter slurry balance shield machine. The project is invested and constructed by Guangdong Pearl River Delta Intercity Rail Transit Co., Ltd., and contracted by China Railway Group Limited Corporation and China Railway Tunnel Bureau Group. According to reports, the shield tunnel has experienced a series of external environmental challenges since its inception, including crossing the 852 meter wide Xinzhou waterway and 100 meter wide Huangpu Chung, two underpass subway operation tunnels, one underpass highway, four long-distance underpass residential buildings, two sidewalks of 220kV ultra-high voltage towers, multiple underpass underground pipelines, underpass the Keyun Road Xinjiao East Road bridge and tunnel group, underpass the municipal roads in core business districts such as Exhibition South Fourth Road and Xingang East Road; Encountered complex geological conditions such as long-distance granite, argillaceous sandstone, multiple unconformity contact zones, and long-distance uneven composite layers of soft and hard, which have caused problems such as easy damage to large shield tunneling tools and mud cake formation on the cutting head. Builders need to carry out high-frequency pressure warehousing treatment, resulting in high construction risks. In response to the complex geological and surrounding environmental conditions along the route, China Railway Tunnel Bureau is closely monitoring the cutting-edge technology of shield tunnel construction, relying on the refined risk control technology of shield tunneling, continuously establishing and improving the risk control system, conducting detailed construction organization planning and on-site construction management, and strengthening research on tool configuration, optimizing tool selection, innovating mud film production technology, and refining warehouse opening linkage management, And innovative application of new synchronous grouting and shield shell synchronous filling technology, combined with geological information technology to adjust excavation parameters, has achieved "zero impact" and "zero accident" in engineering, accumulating valuable experience for the construction of large shield tunneling in central urban areas of China. It is understood that this is the first project in China to use a 13 meter shield tunnel for extremely small turning curve radius excavation in a composite formation. The excavation of a 500 meter extremely small radius curve section is a major challenge faced by the project, and the construction control standards for this section are high and difficult. During the construction preparation period, the builders organized multiple expert discussions and modeling simulations to continuously optimize the adaptive transformation plan of shield tunneling equipment and focus on segment design; During the construction period, the builders scientifically organized and planned ahead, strictly managed the assembly of shield tunneling tools and segments, dynamically adjusted shield tunneling parameters, optimized grouting materials and processes, and ensured the safe and efficient progress of the project. As the first large-diameter shield tunneling machine to advance into the urban area of Guangzhou, the shield machine arrived and received construction at Pazhou Station, adjacent to the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. In order to ensure the safety of arrival and reception, the authoritative experts fully discussed and decided to use the steel sleeve for reception. It is the first time in the world that the steel sleeve process is used for the reception of 13 meter level large shield machines. It has once again expanded the scope of application of the steel sleeve reception process that started in Guangzhou Metro, and has again broken the engineering construction record. Pazhou Branch Line is an important line in Dawan District on the construction track, and it is also an important line for Guangzhou Dongguan Shenzhen Inter-city rail to enter the core area of Guangzhou
