On the morning of July 11, Premier Li Qiang met with President Masatsugu Asakawa of the Asian Development Bank in the Great Hall of the People. Li Qiang stated that the Asian Development Bank is an important multilateral development agency in the Asia Pacific region, playing a positive role in promoting poverty reduction and development in the region, and addressing regional and global challenges. China is willing to deepen practical cooperation with all parties, including the Asian Development Bank, to jointly make greater contributions to the sustainable recovery, prosperity and stability of the Asia Pacific region, and to inject more impetus into the world economic development. Li Qiang pointed out that China is comprehensively promoting Chinese path to modernization, focusing on high-quality development, and has broad space for cooperation with ADB in the future. We hope that the Asian Development Bank will continue to support and participate in China's reform and opening up process, focusing on key areas such as environmental protection and green and low-carbon development, and continuously improving cooperation efficiency. China actively supports the Asian Development Bank in carrying out actions to address climate change, and looks forward to further mobilizing climate funds, especially innovative financing mechanisms, to help developing members enhance their climate adaptation and financing capabilities, and promote the transformation of green and low-carbon development. We hope that multilateral development institutions, including the Asian Development Bank, actively call on developed countries to take the lead in fulfilling their emission reduction responsibilities, implementing financial and technological support commitments, and creating necessary conditions for developing countries to address climate change and achieve sustainable development. Masatsugu Asakawa said that ADB has established a strong close cooperative partnership with China. China is a major contributor to economic growth in the Asia Pacific region.
