Uzbekistan holds presidential elections

Uzbekistan held a presidential election on the 9th. Four candidates, including Mirziyoyev, the current president nominated by the Liberal Democratic Party, ran for office. The voting for this election starts at 8:00 am local time on the 9th and ends at 20:00. Reporters saw the polling station in Tashkent, the capital, where the voting was carried out in an orderly manner. Mirziyoyev finished voting at the No. 59 polling station in Tashkent on the same day. The Uzbek Central Election Commission said that 10784 polling stations were set up in Uzbekistan, with about 19.5 million Voter registration. About 800 international observers and 1400 media representatives monitored the voting in this general election. The other three presidential candidates participating in this election are Inoyatov nominated by the People's Democratic Party, Mahmudova nominated by the "Just" Social Democratic Party and Hamzayev nominated by the Ecological Party. On April 30, Uzbekistan held a referendum to pass the Constitutional amendment. Mirziyoyev signed a presidential decree on May 8th, announcing the early holding of presidential elections on July 9th. Mirziyoyev was elected President of President of Uzbekistan in 2016 and 2021 respectively. (New News Agency)
