The Change of Zhouwan in Three Folk Songs
2023-07-10
On a summer evening, the Jiaozhou Bay by the Yangtze River becomes lively. Beautiful Oasis, my beloved hometown, the water in Oasis is also sweet, and the fish balls in Oasis are fragrant... "In the cheerful folk song melody, the villagers dance together in the square. The author of the folk song is Jin Yuming, a villager from Zhongbao Village, Zhangzhouwan Town. Over the past 25 years, he has written three songs for Zhangzhouwan, documenting the changes in his hometown and singing the beautiful pursuits and visions of his fellow villagers. The Yangtze River rushes eastward and flows to Xiezhou Bay Town, located in the north of Jiayu County, Hubei Province. The river flows westward around the continent, forming a special landscape of "three or ten miles to the west alone". Since the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Yangtze River merchant ships, bamboo boats, wooden rafts, and others have all docked here, and tourists from various places have flocked in, hence the name "Jiaozhou". The bustling commercial port of Qianzhou Bay was once known as "Little Hankou". Entering Zhongbao Village in Zhouwan Town, the large wall paintings reflecting the rampant floods and the clock that stopped at 8:00 pm on August 1st of that year brought people's thoughts back to the scene of the 1998 catastrophic flood. On the evening of August 1st that year, the embankment of the Yangzhou Bay section of the Yangtze River burst, and the local area became a vast expanse of land. The water overflowed to the second floor window of my house, but fortunately everyone moved ahead and the food and pigs and cows were washed away, "recalled Jin Yuming, who lives at the entrance of the village. In the summer of 1998, at the age of 34, Jin Yuming worked on the Yangtze River embankment for more than a month in emergency and disaster relief. The magnificent scene of carrying sandbags and delivering supplies during the day, patrolling embankments and inspecting pipes at night, and the military and civilians working together to fight against floods, made him, who had loved singing since he was young, decide to write a song to record this flood fighting experience. Carrying mud on my back and sand on my shoulders, I swear to defend the Bay of Zhou and our home to the death... The wind is still blowing, the rain is also falling, and tears are in the eyes of the people in the Bay of Zhou... "To soothe my grief, Jin Yuming tried to write this song" The Bay of Zhou is an eternal home ". He recalled that writing this song is to hope that everyone can remember the Qianzhou Bay in the flood and "better promote the anti flood spirit of unity". Huanzhou Bay is surrounded by rivers on three sides and has fertile soil. After the flood receded, the local people gathered their energy and resumed production. Jin Yuming and his family successively transferred 60 acres of land to plant corn and cotton, and even stayed in the fields all night during their busiest hours. In the first half of the year, he cultivated land and worked in the second half of the year. His family's annual income exceeded 100000 yuan, making him a famous local expert in getting rich. In 2007, Jin Yuming decided to write another song to introduce the reconstruction of his home in Jiaozhou Bay. After a month of creation and editing, a song titled 'I Love Zhouwan, I Love Xiliu River' was written with lyrics. My sister from Zhouwan, my friend from Zhouzhou, you have put in a lot of effort to build Zhouwan. For the future of Zhouwan, you are rushing around, and the melodious toot (a local instrument) is playing the new life of Xiaozhou's well-off life. The simple lyrics and beautiful melody sing the scene of Zhouwan people relying on hard work and hands to live a well-off life. In the past, the land was ravaged by floods, and now it is a beautiful new countryside. Walking in Qianzhou Bay, with a gentle breeze, a new rural landscape with clear water, green shore, and clean environment unfolds slowly. Taking advantage of its proximity to Wuhan, Zhouwan has focused on building a "vegetable basket" and "rice bag" base in recent years, driving agricultural upgrading and increasing farmers' income through mechanization and scale. With the help of large-scale agricultural machinery, farming has become a history of relying on people to pull cattle for cultivation. In addition, the Three Gorges Dam regulates storage, the Yangtze River embankment is reinforced, and irrigation ditches are available
