Qu Dongyu, the Chinese candidate and current Director General, won re-election with a high vote. Qu Dongyu was elected Director General of FAO in June 2019, becoming the first Chinese Director General in the history of FAO. Since assuming the post of Director General of FAO, Qu Dongyu has actively led FAO to respond to global food security challenges and help countries, especially developing countries, develop food and agriculture, which has been recognized by the majority of FAO member countries.
