In recent years, the Yangtze River shipping industry has entered a fast lane with a throughput of 3.59 billion tons, 15 large ports with a capacity of 100 million tons, and more than 100 countries or regions for navigation and commerce. The Yangtze River trunk line has basically formed a "golden waterway", continuously promoting the high-quality development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. In the past, the Yangtze River coastline and ports were misused, occupied without use, occupied more than used less, and used extensively. The advantages of the Yangtze River water transport were not fully utilized. In order to solve this problem, in recent years, the provinces and cities along the Yangtze River and the relevant Yangtze River basin institutions have adhered to the problem orientation, systematic policy, and treatment of both symptoms and root causes. The Yangtze River shoreline renovation has been comprehensively promoted, 1361 illegal wharves have been thoroughly rectified, illegal sand mining has been basically eliminated, illegal shipping has been rectified, shorelines have been reshaped, and the green Wildlife corridor on both sides has gradually formed. Li Jiang, Deputy Director of the Yangtze River Navigation Management Bureau of the Ministry of Transport, introduced that the navigation capacity of the Yangtze River has significantly improved, and the main line has basically formed a modern "golden waterway". The high-grade waterway of the Yangtze River trunk and branch lines has a mileage of over 10000 kilometers, achieving direct access to Nanjing by 50000 ton sea vessels, Wuhan by 10000 ton vessels, Chongqing by 3000 ton vessels, and Yibin by 2000 ton vessels, forming a water expressway that connects Sichuan, Chongqing, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui, and Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai. At present, there are 15 billion ton ports on the Yangtze River trunk line. On June 30th, at Yangluo Port in Wuhan, containers piled up like mountains, with gantry cranes and bridge cranes constantly rising and falling. A liner loaded with goods such as car parts was preparing to depart for Busan, South Korea. At the nearby molten iron intermodal station, the Trans-Eurasia Logistics, full of electronic products, whistled for Europe. Nowadays, Yangluo Port has achieved the goal of "shipping eastward into the sea and trains westward into Europe", with a container throughput exceeding 2 million TEUs in 2022. Smooth the "big arteries" and dredge the "capillaries", organically connect the large, medium and small ports, and expand the "width" of the Yangtze River. According to statistics, the navigation mileage of the Yangtze River system is about 70000 kilometers, accounting for 70% of the national inland waterway navigation mileage. Huangshi, Hubei Province, which is "a city based on the port", in order to make the "golden coastline" get the "golden income", integrated and set up Huangshi New Port, jumped out of the single port mode, and actively built a comprehensive transportation hub by integrating regional highway, railway, waterway and aviation advantages. In 2022, the throughput reached a historic high of 29.3 million tons. Huangshi New Port is building eight 20000 ton berths and will become the largest single port in the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River when put into operation. Like Huangshi New Port, more and more railways, highways, and ports are holding hands. According to statistics, 15 major ports along the river have achieved railway entry. Multimodal transportation such as river sea intermodal transportation and rail water intermodal transportation have established the three-dimensional comprehensive transportation corridor of the Yangtze River. The navigation capacity of the Three Gorges Shiplock has been further explored and improved. Since its opening in 2003, it has accumulated over 990000 ships, 1.91 billion tons of cargo, and over 12 million passengers over the past 20 years. Filling a 40 foot container with 1.91 billion tons of cargo, connected end-to-end, can circle the Earth's equator 22.4 times. Along with the increase in freight volume, green shipping is also steadily advancing, including shore power coverage, garbage landing, dock renovation, and ecological waterways.
