China's first digital twin intelligent test ship "Dolphin 1" made its maiden voyage

2023-07-03

On June 30th, China's first digital twin intelligent research test ship "Dolphin 1" was delivered and made its maiden voyage at Penglai Port in Yantai. "Dolphin 1", independently designed and developed by Harbin Engineering University, has broken through a number of key technologies such as multi-source information fusion and collaborative detection, intelligent perception and environment reconstruction, digital twin of ship and marine environment, and built a "maritime mobile" laboratory. The ship made its maiden voyage from Penglai to Qingdao, conducting multiple experiments along the way, including performance verification of ship intelligent equipment, environmental perception, obstacle avoidance and route re planning, and virtual real synchronous interaction of digital twin systems. Dolphin 1 has installed a panoramic 128 line/2 nautical mile LiDAR, as well as multiple sets of intelligent perception new equipment such as a 360 degree panoramic infrared vision system, a 360 degree high range panoramic visible light vision system, and autonomous sound signal recognition. It has created an intelligent perception system for ship navigation situation, equivalent to installing multiple "thousand mile eyes" and "tailwind ears", which can accurately detect small targets 0.5 meters above the water surface within a distance of 2 nautical miles. Xia Guihua, the project leader and professor of Harbin Engineering University, introduced that "Dolphin 1" can provide three-dimensional reconstruction information of the navigation environment in an all-weather and all-round way to ensure that the ship can still hear and see in rainy days, foggy days, dark nights and other adverse conditions. Dolphin 1 "is equipped with China's first set of ship digital twin systems, and has established a ship digital twin technology system for the first time, including ship digital modeling, model iterative evolution, virtual real real-time interaction, online offline symbiosis, and ship shore mirroring. Operators can remotely control it from thousands of miles away, achieving the goal of" people driving on the shore, ships sailing on the sea ", and can accurately control the ship's engine, propulsion system, and Navigation systems and other "organs" undergo health examinations and "pulse diagnosis".
