The "Friends of Guling" is composed of descendants of American families who have lived in Guling, Fuzhou, and many of their families have a century long bond with China. Mu Yanling's father-in-law, Mu Airen, came to Fuzhou in the 1940s and lived in Guling for many years. Her husband, Mu Peter, was also born in Fuzhou. Since her first visit to Fuzhou in 2015 to "seek roots", Mu Yanling has been dedicated to promoting Guling culture. She has created an English Guling website for foreign friends and organized multiple "Dream Seeking Guling" activities. With the efforts of Mu Yanling and others, the protagonists of the Guling story gradually increased from the Gardner family at the beginning to the Mu Airen family, Ke Zhiren family, Edward Bliss family, Pu Tianshou family, Bolingwei family and other families. The circle of friends of "Guling friends" is growing.
