However, many people still believe that the main culprits of climate change are developing economies, especially China and India. This mindset has always been wrong and overlooks how these countries play a leading role in the transition to green energy. Although the world has lost valuable time due to the hesitation of the United States, progress has been made in combating climate change around the world. Clean energy technology is now competitive, and this progress is not only led by Europe, but also by other emerging markets such as China, India, Chile, Morocco, and Vietnam. The atmosphere does not care which country's flag is flying at the location where greenhouse gases are released. On the contrary, we must consider whether a specific emission source is using the least climate damaging energy to meet the needs of various stakeholders. In this regard, so far, China and India have been far less wasteful in their greenhouse gas emission limits than the United States, the European Union, Russia, or Saudi Arabia. China's per capita greenhouse gas emissions are only half that of the United States. India's per capita emissions are only one-seventh that of the United States. In terms of the most important predictive indicator for our climate future - the speed of replacing fossil fuels with clean energy - China is becoming a leader. China's current wind power generation is almost twice that of the United States, and solar power generation accounts for one-third of the global total, more than twice that of the United States. The Chinese government is building far more renewable energy facilities than any other country. Looking globally, China is also a major supplier of solar energy production capacity to other countries, accounting for 75% of global photovoltaic production capacity. It has also become a major exporter of electric vehicles. The proportion of electricity consumption from renewable energy sources in China has surpassed that of the United States. China is introducing a large amount of clean energy into its energy market. In 2022, China invested $546 billion in accelerating its transition to renewable energy, three times the EU's $180 billion, and compared to its economic scale, this amount is four times the US investment commitment. China plans to add solar installed capacity within one year, which is equivalent to the installed capacity of all solar infrastructure in the United States. Since we know that China has invested a lot of money in the energy revolution, can Americans relax? Almost impossible. Regardless of the reasonable standard, the United States needs to worry about falling behind China and India in the new field of energy.
