2023-06-13

What is the relationship between morality, ethics, civilization, and enlightenment? The reporter learned from the organizer that recently, at the "Youth Academic Salon and Archaeological Workshop", the attending guests held academic exchanges under the theme of "Mind: Contemporary Confucianism and Civilization Dialogue". It is reported that this "Youth Academic Salon" is connected with the "Jigu Workshop" of the International Confucianism Institute, aiming to jointly build a platform for young scholars to exchange research on Confucianism. Taking major topics in Chinese philosophy as the theme, the small academic salon model is adopted, inviting postgraduate students with academic ideals, solid academic skills and strong academic innovation ability from various universities to share and discuss around the theme, And commented by influential scholars in the academic community. Wen Haiming, professor of Renmin University of China, said that the youth academic salon is committed to academic inheritance, and the ideological culture and internal spirit of Chinese philosophy should be passed on. The theme of this salon is "Contemporary Confucianism and Civilization Dialogue". We hope that teachers and classmates can deepen Confucianism research and promote the dialogue between Chinese and Western civilizations. Wang Xinzhu, vice president of the International Confucianism School of China University of Political Science and Law, believes that learning can only have a long history through generations, so this youth academic salon is very meaningful. Young students can communicate and learn from each other on such an academic exchange platform, listening to the valuable opinions of teachers, which greatly promotes the academic advancement of young students. Eighteen master's and doctoral students from seven universities in the capital shared their papers during group discussions. Young scholars have explored some important issues in academic history around the theme of this conference, with classic texts as the core. Wang Weihao, a doctoral student at Peking University, focused on Zhu Zi's explanation of the "Wen Ren" section in his "Annotations to the Analects of Confucius" and discussed Zhu Zi's interpretation of the "similarities and differences between questions and answers" and his "rational differentiation" picture. Zheng Hong, a doctoral student at Renmin University of China, analyzed the meanings of "origin" and "beginning" and explored the concept and significance of "reporting the origin and returning to the beginning" in the Book of Rites. Morality, ethics, civilization, and education are important themes discussed by young scholars. Yuan Chuanzhi, a doctor of Renmin University of China, summarized the three dimensions of "meaning" of Confucianism from a moral perspective, and discussed the logical turn and philosophical breakthrough of "sincerity view" from Wang Yangming to Liu Zongzhou from this perspective. After the discussion session, the teachers gave a summary speech for this meeting. Wen Haiming said that the paper writing should have a clear sense of problems, and find appropriate problems based on previous research. To pursue knowledge, one must follow the right path and follow the root of the traditional Chinese philosophical path. Liu Yuedi, a researcher of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, believes that doing Chinese philosophy is ultimately doing philosophy, and the so-called Chinese philosophy is a philosophy of the unity of knowledge and practice. Only when such a philosophy is done can it be modern Chinese philosophy. It is reported that this event was hosted by the International Confucian Federation, and undertaken by the Academic Committee of the International Confucian Federation and the International Confucian School of China University of Political Science and Law.
