Chen Lusheng explains the story behind cultural relics to children. Yu Jiarong photographed "It's shocking that a rural museum can reach such a scale and level!" On International Museum Day in Yangzhong City, Jiangsu Province, Sun Haoliang, the headmaster of New Jinshan Chinese School in Australia, who came here to visit, said that he would organize overseas teenagers to have a look, so that more people could understand the profound culture here. This rural museum has stirred the hearts of visiting experts and scholars. Cong Zhiyuan, a tenured professor at William Patterson University in the United States, and Zhang Yi, a French Chinese artist, carefully appreciate the collection and enthusiastically take photos in this rural museum, recommending to friends at home and abroad. Professor Reno Voconmore, the director of the National Museum of Liechtenstein and a PhD student from the University of Oxford, is also fascinated by the culture here. More than ten days ago, he arrived in Yangzhong and took over the appointment letter of honorary director from Chen Lusheng, happily becoming the European "recommender" of this rural museum. Recently, a lecture video from a British museum has attracted widespread attention from domestic cultural and museum enthusiasts. In the picture, a foreign volunteer is explaining four bamboo artifacts with strong Jiangnan local characteristics, all of which are from the Chen Lusheng Museum. In 2020, Chen Lusheng, former deputy director of the National Museum, returned to his hometown of Yangzhong and collaborated with the local government to build this museum. It is located in Xinzhi Village, Xinba Town, and consists of three museums. Among them, the Bamboo Museum displays over 3000 exquisite bamboo artifacts with local characteristics in Yangzhong. Here, visitors can experience the bamboo weaving process and appreciate the spirit of craftsmanship in warp and weft weaving; The art museum showcases nearly a hundred works and creations by Chen Lusheng since 1977; The Han Culture Museum showcases over 2000 Han Dynasty cultural relics, including pottery, lacquerware, portrait stones, etc., allowing viewers to experience the brilliance of Han culture. This museum features bamboo as its architectural facade, inspired by the misty rain and mountains and waters of Jiangnan, and echoes the style of the Yangtze River. It is a green museum powered by a solar photovoltaic power generation system. Since its free opening to the public on May 18, 2020, the museum has received over 170000 visitors, more than 1200 teams, and conducted nearly a hundred research and learning activities. Chen Lusheng has always been committed to bringing excellent Chinese culture abroad. He has traveled around the world and has communicated with more than 370 museums worldwide, planning many large-scale exhibitions. Now, he is thinking about how to further innovate and promote while inheriting and protecting local civilization. Yangzhong is surrounded by water on all sides. In the past, it mainly relied on boats to communicate with the outside world. Nowadays, in addition to the geographical 'one island and five bridges', it has also built an intangible cultural bridge, "said Chen Lusheng. (New News Agency)
