Recently, the China University Teacher Development Forum and the first University Teacher Development Work Seminar were held at Renmin University of China. At the forum, the attending guests exchanged the main experiences and practices of teacher development work in various universities, and conducted in-depth discussions on issues such as the construction of a teacher development system in universities, the improvement of teachers' digital literacy, and the reform of teacher assessment and evaluation systems. How to promote the reform of the assessment and evaluation system for university teachers and smooth the path for teacher career development is a hot topic of concern on the forum. Various universities have taken the reform of teacher evaluation as an important starting point and launched a series of explorations and practices: Lanzhou University's "Cuiying Scholars" selection has abolished the prerequisite conditions such as academic qualifications, professional titles, paper achievements, and awards, and implemented representative work evaluation and peer evaluation systems; Central South University of Economics and Law has restructured its evaluation system for humanities and social sciences teachers, focusing on quality standards, constructing representative achievement evaluations that reflect disciplinary differences, and improving supervision at the school and college levels... Guan Peijun, Vice President of the China Association of Higher Education, stated that the reform of the evaluation system is fundamentally to eliminate the drawbacks of "only", oppose absolutization and simplification, respect the differentiated development of teachers, and allow diverse stakeholders to participate in the evaluation, Explore classification and hierarchical evaluation, multiple comprehensive evaluation, developmental evaluation, and holistic evaluation to stimulate the innovative vitality of the teaching staff. At the meeting, Renmin University of China, together with 15 universities including Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Fudan University, jointly established the National Alliance for the Development of University Teachers. It is reported that the alliance is committed to gathering the strength of various institutions for the development of university teachers in various regions, working together to build a platform for the development of Chinese university teachers, and exploring the construction of a new era university teacher development system.
