The theme of this conference is "75 years since the establishment of the World Health Organization: saving lives and promoting health for all". During the meeting, Cao Xuetao, Vice President of this session of the General Assembly and Deputy Director of the National Health Commission, introduced that China has always adhered to the concept of "people first and life first", prioritized the development of people's health, comprehensively promoted the construction of a healthy China, and continuously deepened the reform of the medical and health system. Through unremitting efforts, China has built the world's largest medical and health service system, providing residents with comprehensive services Full cycle health services, 90% of urban and rural households can reach the nearest medical point within 15 minutes. The world's largest medical security system has been established, with basic medical insurance covering 1.36 billion people and a stable coverage rate of over 95%. The medical security capacity is constantly improving. Focusing on key groups to promote the Healthy China Action, focusing on meeting the health needs of key groups such as women, children, and the elderly, implementing the Healthy Poverty Alleviation Project, and helping nearly 10 million families living in poverty due to illness successfully lift themselves out of poverty. China's average life expectancy has increased from 35 years when the People's Republic of China was established to 78.2 years in 2021, eliminating infectious diseases such as smallpox, polio, and malaria. Its main health indicators are among the top in middle-income countries. Cao Xuetao stated that China practices the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind and has always taken practical actions to promote the health of everyone in developing countries and promote fair and accessible health. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the Chinese government's dispatch of medical teams to developing countries. Over the past 60 years, China has sent a total of 30000 medical team members to 76 countries and regions worldwide, treating 290 million patients, and improving the health and well-being of people around the world. China is committed to working together to fight the epidemic. It has donated 50 million US dollars to WHO, 100 million US dollars to the COVID-19 Vaccine Implementation Plan, 38 batches of anti epidemic expert groups to 34 countries, and more than 2.2 billion doses of vaccines to more than 120 countries and international organizations around the world, providing strong support to developing countries in combating the COVID-19. Cao Xuetao pointed out that China actively participates in the work of international organizations and cooperation mechanisms in the health field such as the World Health Organization, firmly supports the World Health Organization in playing a leading and coordinating role in global health affairs, and actively shares the best practices of China's health development. In 2016, successfully co hosted the 9th global health Promotion Conference with WHO; In recent years, the World Health Assembly has promoted and passed multiple resolutions on safe medication for children, traditional medicine, and led the organization of multiple thematic side meetings on the health system and health poverty alleviation; Currently, 5 international emergency medical teams have obtained WHO certification; Successfully passed the WHO malaria elimination certification, and China's malaria prevention and control experience has been included in the WHO technical guidelines; Traditional medicine has also been officially included in the latest International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) system. These initiatives have provided China's programs and contributed to China's strength in promoting global health.
