Blockchain SIM card for Web3.0 introduced
2023-05-18
On May 16th, the BSIM card (Blockchain SIM card) jointly developed by Shanghai Shutu Blockchain Research Institute and China Telecom Corporation (hereinafter referred to as China Telecom) Research Institute was released to the public in Shanghai. Compared with traditional SIM cards, BSIM cards have the characteristics of portability, high security, and high performance, which will promote the innovative application and industrial ecological development of the next generation Internet (Web3.0). BSIM cards expand storage space by 10 to 20 times compared to SIM cards, increase computing power by tens of times, and achieve the generation and storage of public and private keys for users within the card. "said Long Fan, director of Shanghai Treeto Blockchain Research Institute. BSIM cards deeply integrate blockchain user experience with SIM cards, utilizing the hardware security advantages of SIM cards to protect user private keys, and are a secure and convenient Web3.0 user terminal entry solution, It can enable ordinary users to participate in the Web3.0 world more safely and conveniently, and enjoy the convenience brought by blockchain. Under the support of blockchain, Web3.0 can guarantee creators' ownership and usufruct of works through digital contracts, and reshape digital relations of production that are more compatible with digital content productivity. However, compared to the existing second-generation internet account system, Web3.0 still faces issues such as high user cognitive costs, high learning barriers, and low conversion rates, which affect ecological development. It is understood that a core innovation of Web3.0 is the "private key account system". It is based on private keys and signatures, providing users with a means to independently prove identity and send instructions without relying on a centralized platform. In this way, users can manage their digital assets independently of any platform and protect their digital rights. In the world of Web 3.0, users need to carefully manage their private keys to prevent them from being stolen or lost, otherwise they will face the risk of identity theft and digital asset loss. Therefore, the next generation of the Internet requires a more accessible private key management tool. To meet this requirement, BSIM card can reduce the risk of malware attacks by adopting hardware security protection technology, and can also realize the binding of digital identity and real identity through the real name system of mobile phone numbers. In addition to basic private key management and digital signature, BSIM cards can also achieve operations such as encrypted storage, key retrieval, and even integrate traditional U-shield functions within the card. Li Anmin, vice president of China Telecom Research Institute, said that in the next step, China Telecom will work with partners to promote the implementation of digital asset card BSIM in Hunan and other places, and apply it to the scenarios of meta universe digital assets, digital identity authentication, and Internet of Things device acquisition. Focusing on the deployment of the innovation chain in the industrial chain, Wang Ye, deputy director of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, said that Shanghai would promote the integration and development of the underlying technology of the blockchain with privacy computing and digital identity technology, build a technical support system for innovative applications of Web3.0, and form a new generation of blockchain innovation ecology with global influence.
