On May 16th, the 2023 Greater Bay Area Science Forum press conference was held in Guangzhou. The reporter learned from the press conference that the 2023 Greater Bay Area Science Forum will be held from May 20th to 23rd in Nansha, Guangzhou. With the theme of "Zhihui Bay Area, the Bay and the World", this forum will focus on such important fields as artificial intelligence, nanotechnology, particle physics, biomedicine and health, information and communication, and high-quality development of the "the Belt and Road", to show the latest progress in the construction of the international scientific and technological innovation center in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area and the latest achievements in Guangdong's scientific and technological innovation. The forum will set up a high-level plenary session and 15 sub forums, and invite top scientists from around the world, including Nobel laureates and international award recipients at the same level, to participate. The Great Bay Science Forum was initiated by the "the Belt and Road" international scientific organization alliance, and hosted by the People's Government of Guangdong Province under the guidance of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the China Association for Science and Technology. Winners of Nobel Prize will attend the meeting and issue a keynote report. According to Nie Xiaowei, Executive Secretary General of the Great Bay Area Science Forum, as of May 15, this forum has invited 5 Nobel Prize winners and international awards at the same level (3 offline and 2 online), nearly 100 academicians at home and abroad, nearly 30 representatives of international organizations and associations, and more than 200 representatives of academic institutions at home and abroad, including foreign academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Ding Zhaozhong, the winner of the 1976 Nobel Prize in Physics, Michael Levitt, the winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Daniel Kammen, a professor at the University of California Berkeley, who contributed to the IPCC report that won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, academician Ye Yuru, the winner of the World Outstanding Female Scientist Achievement Award, and academician Gao Wen, the first prize winner of the the State Technological Innovation Award, Academician Teng Jinguang, the winner of the the State Natural Science Award, and Academician Zhang Suojiang, the winner of the Chemistry Award of the The World Academy of Sciences, attended the meeting offline and delivered keynote reports. It is reported that this forum will also attract in-depth experiences from universities such as the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and student volunteers from Guangzhou Foreign Language School in Nansha District, building a bridge for communication between scientists, research institutes, and schools and students in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and further deepening technology exchange and cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao. At the same time, a sub forum will be established for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the docking of scientific and technological talents, focusing on exploring the "last mile" of scientific and technological achievements transformation. During the forum, a sub forum for international organizations and global cooperation will also be held, inviting representatives of international organizations to explore common issues such as sustainable development of environmental energy, public health and life health, and technological innovation and development. In addition, the forum will actively respond to the first anniversary of the implementation of the "Nansha Plan" by setting up the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Science and Technology Innovation Development Sub Forum, the Nansha Science City Construction and Regional Coordinated Development Sub Forum, the Vocational Education Sub Forum, and the Intellectual Property Sub Forum. Focusing on the "the Belt and Road" and releasing major research results, this year marks the tenth anniversary of the initiative to jointly build the "the Belt and Road". This forum sets up a sub forum for high-quality development of the "the Belt and Road" to explore the "the Belt and Road" in a comprehensive and multi perspective manner under the new situation
