When working, she would donate 10000 yuan from her salary every year to the Dunhuang Grottoes Protection and Research Foundation in China for nearly thirty years. In 2014, Fan Jinshi retired and donated 450000 yuan from her provident fund account in one lump sum. For many years, Fan Jinshi has always done his best to promote and encourage the academic research of future generations.
