Myanmar Leader Min Aung Lai Meets with Qin Gang

On May 2nd local time, Myanmar leader Min Aung Lai will meet with visiting Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang in Naypyidaw. Qin Gang stated that China and Myanmar are adjacent brothers in the mountains and rivers. Qin Gang pointed out that China sincerely hopes for the stability of the situation and national development in Myanmar, supports Myanmar in exploring a development path that is in line with its national conditions and has Myanmar's characteristics, supports Myanmar in continuing to promote the political transformation process, and supports all parties in Myanmar to properly resolve differences and achieve reconciliation under the constitutional and legal framework. China advocates that the international community respect Myanmar's sovereignty and play a constructive role in achieving peace and reconciliation in Myanmar. China will continue to provide assistance to Myanmar's development within its capabilities, accelerate the promotion of key cooperation projects in the China Myanmar Economic Corridor, and carry out projects benefiting the people in agriculture, education, healthcare, and other areas. Qin Gang stated that China supports improving relations between Myanmar and Bangladesh, resolving relevant issues through consultation, and is willing to work with both countries to expand practical cooperation between China, Myanmar, and Bangladesh. Min Ang Lai stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China for over 70 years, the bilateral relations have always maintained a momentum of development and achieved fruitful results. Myanmar is willing to work with China to further strengthen Myanmar China friendly cooperation and actively build a community with a shared future between Myanmar and China. Myanmar appreciates China's objective and fair stance on Myanmar related issues and welcomes China to play a greater role. Myanmar attaches great importance to protecting the security of Chinese citizens and institutions in Myanmar and is willing to cooperate with China to maintain peace in the border areas between the two countries. During his visit to Myanmar, Qin Gang also met with former Chairman of the Myanmar National Peace and Development Commission, Than Shwe, and held talks with Myanmar's Foreign Minister, Dan Sui.
