The Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing released data on April 30th. In April, the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) of China's manufacturing industry was 49.2%, a decrease of 2.7 percentage points from the previous month. "In April, affected by insufficient market demand and the rapid recovery of the manufacturing industry in the first quarter to form a high base, the PMI of the manufacturing industry fell below the critical point, and the boom level fell month on month," said Zhao Qinghe, senior statistician of the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics. Statistical data shows that production continues to grow. In April, the production index and new order index were 50.2% and 48.8%, respectively, a decrease of 4.4 and 4.8 percentage points compared to the previous month. Among them, the production index is still above the critical point, indicating that overall manufacturing production remains expanding. The equipment manufacturing industry continues to expand. In April, the PMI of equipment manufacturing, consumer goods, high-tech manufacturing, and high energy consuming industries were 50.1%, 49.8%, 49.3%, and 47.9%, respectively, lower than the previous month's 2.9, 2.1, 1.9, and 3.2 percentage points. Among them, the PMI of the equipment manufacturing industry is still above the critical point, with its production index and new order index both above 51%, indicating that the equipment manufacturing industry continues to expand. Market expectations remain stable. In April, the expected index of production and business activities was 54.7%, continuing to be at a high level, indicating stable confidence in recent market development among enterprises. From an industry perspective, the expected index of production and operation activities in industries such as agricultural and sideline food processing, refined tea for food and alcoholic beverages, general equipment, specialized equipment, railway, ship, aerospace equipment, and electrical machinery equipment is at a high level of over 60%, indicating a positive outlook for industry development.
