The Argentine government announced on the 26th that it will use RMB to settle trade in imported goods from China. Argentine Minister of Economy, Massa, stated at a press conference that Argentina's use of RMB settlement in imported goods trade from China signifies the further activation of the China Argentina local currency swap agreement, which will help strengthen Argentina's foreign exchange reserves and is of great significance for improving the current economic situation in Argentina. Massa stated that the country's $1.04 billion worth of goods imported from China in April will be paid in Chinese yuan instead. In addition, it is expected that goods worth 790 million US dollars imported in May will also be paid in Chinese yuan. Chinese Ambassador to Argentina, Zou Xiaoli, stated at the press conference that strengthening economic and trade cooperation between China and Argentina is an important part of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The two sides have strong economic complementarity and enormous potential for cooperation. The Chinese side attaches great importance to conducting monetary and financial cooperation with the Afghan side, and is willing to work together with the Afghan side to encourage enterprises to use their local currency settlement more in bilateral economic and trade and investment, reduce exchange costs, reduce exchange rate risks, and create a favorable policy environment for promoting local currency settlement.
