The release of the space compass system can provide space object retrieval services

2023-04-26

On April 23, the 2023 China Space Conference · International Forum on Commercial Aerospace Industry was held in Hefei, Anhui Province, with the theme of "New Kinetics of Commercial Aerospace Boost the Construction of Aerospace Power". At the forum, Future Aerospace officially released the space compass system. According to the founder of Future Aerospace, Niu, the space compass system is a space target positioning and perception system independently developed by Future Aerospace Research Institute, targeting collision avoidance and target positioning application scenarios for satellite deployment and in orbit services. The system can provide multi-dimensional, multi scenario, and user customized spatial object retrieval services, including spatial object retrieval, spatial event recognition, and spatial collision warning. When it comes to the research and development background of the space compass system, Niu said that there are currently over 14000 spacecraft and 33000 space debris orbiting the Earth in space, posing great challenges to satellite launch deployment and subsequent in orbit services. In the future, when we need to clean up space debris, we will need satellite collision warning and target positioning. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a complete star map and locate each spacecraft and debris, "said Niu. It is reported that in the future, aerospace will continue to iteratively develop a space compass system, drawing more complete star maps through various means such as space-based and ground-based methods, while providing higher visible resolution. Niu said that in the future, aerospace expects to provide guidance for real-time autonomous navigation and collision avoidance systems for spacecraft, just like mobile navigation used in daily life. The forum was hosted by the China Aerospace Society, the China Aerospace Foundation, Northwest Polytechnical University, and the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization, and hosted by the China Aerospace Science and Technology International Exchange Center.
