The report introduces the ecological environment status, ecological environment protection goals, and completion status of tasks in 2022, and proposes relevant work arrangements for 2023: effectively strengthening ecological environment legislation and supervision and law enforcement, solidly promoting green, low-carbon, and high-quality development, deepening the battle for pollution prevention and control, continuously strengthening ecological protection and restoration, effectively maintaining ecological environment safety, strict nuclear and radiation safety supervision, and accelerating the construction of a modern environmental governance system. Entrusted by the State Council, Chen Xu, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, delivered a report on the work of overseas Chinese affairs in the new era. The report introduces the significant achievements made in overseas Chinese affairs in the past decade of the new era, the current characteristics of overseas Chinese affairs, the main problems in work, and the next steps in work arrangements. It proposes relevant work suggestions: to formulate the Law on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Overseas Chinese as soon as possible, conduct in-depth investigation and research on the revision of the Law on the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Returned Overseas Chinese and their Family Members, and strengthen supervision of the implementation of laws related to overseas Chinese.
