The visiting delegation led by the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Ka chao, from the Hong Kong SAR government and the Legislative Council to the Greater Bay Area departed on the afternoon of the 21st to visit mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area for four days. It is reported that the visiting delegation will visit four cities, namely Shenzhen, Dongguan, Foshan, and Guangzhou, to inspect facilities, enterprises, and projects in innovation, environmental protection, youth development, culture, art, and sports in various regions, and to understand the latest development and opportunities of mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area. The delegation was headed by Li Jiachao, the Secretary for Administration of the SAR Government, Chen Guoji, and the President of the Legislative Council, Andrew Leung. The visiting delegation also includes 4 directors and over 80 members of the Legislative Council. Li Jiachao stated before his departure that this visit to mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area is the first joint visit of the current SAR government and the current SAR Legislative Council, and also the largest official visit to Hong Kong after the comprehensive clearance of customs between Hong Kong and the mainland. He pointed out that the joint visit of the SAR government and the Legislative Council not only represents the unity of the executive and legislative organs, but also demonstrates the importance and active participation of the SAR government in the construction of the Greater Bay Area. Andrew Leung, President of the Legislative Council of the Special Administrative Region, said before his departure that since the beginning of the work of this Legislative Council, legislators have been very concerned about how to promote the development of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. This trip provides legislators with the opportunity to firsthand understand the latest developments in the Greater Bay Area cities, so that they can continue to present new opinions in the Legislative Council, follow up on relevant policies of the SAR government, contribute to national development, and seek new opportunities for Hong Kong's development.
