Handle "Small Cases" with Care and Emotion, Maintain the "Bottom Line" of Justice for the People - Reflections on the TV drama "Bottom Line
2023-04-14
In my spare time, I finally finished watching the TV drama "The Bottom Line". This is a noteworthy "rule of law drama", with well written script and actors performing well. As some people say, if you are a courtier, you should watch this drama because it tells your story; If you are a legal person, you need to watch this drama, because the law and the court are your weapons and battlefield; If you are not a legal person, you should watch this drama even more because through it, you can understand the court, understand judges, and find inner peace in the complex society, knowing the power of the law. One of the most deeply felt judges in this TV drama is the grassroots court judges represented by Fang Yuan, Zhou Yi'an, Ye Xin, and others. They diligently handle every "small case" with love and guard the "bottom line" of justice for the people. From TV dramas, it can be seen that there are various types of civil cases that involve thousands of households and are closely related to the people's clothing, food, housing, and transportation. However, these seemingly insignificant civil disputes are "big issues" for the parties involved and "big cases" for their families. In recent years, the Supreme People's Court has paid great attention to the trial of "small cases", as well as the promotion and interpretation of "small cases, big principles", in order to explain the questioning in society about "whether to help or not, whether to persuade or not, whether to pursue or not, whether to save or not, whether to act or not, and whether to manage or not". A clear attitude has been adopted to make the judiciary powerful, right and wrong, and warm, and to provide warmth, compliance, and security for the people. This has achieved good social results, and the satisfaction of the people with the judiciary is increasing year by year. The bottom line "selects a series of small cases - workplace sexual harassment cases, long and short leg reputation infringement cases, drinking with colleagues and falling dead cases, as well as several divorce cases, child custody rights cases, and so on. It tells the audience how to resolve conflicts through law, reduce disputes, protect their legitimate rights and interests, and maintain family and social harmony and stability. At the same time, it is also telling judges to pay attention to the trial of "small cases". From the play, we can see: small cases, big people's livelihood. There is no small matter in people's livelihood. Civil cases are often emotional disputes and conflicts of interest, and behind the cases are various forms of life. Each case is related to people's well-being, reflects social sentiment and public opinion, and is related to the overall situation of social stability. A trial may turn a family around and also help the parties out of a painful marriage. During the trial of cases, even if some complex cases are difficult to handle at the moment, we should maintain our sincerity in serving the people and resolve conflicts and disputes seriously. Because the masses often understand the law, our judicial system, and society through specific cases, especially those that concern their own interests. Judicial cases should be handled with the heart of the "great people of the country", and cases of all sizes should be understood, analyzed, and handled from the perspectives of law, politics, and social harmony; Not only should we follow the "text law", but we should also comprehensively consider the unity of natural principles, national laws, and human relations, and strive to achieve the unity of legal, political, and social effects. A small case is a big truth. Emphasizing small civil cases reflects the importance that judicial authorities attach to all cases that enter litigation channels. Judicial handling is no different, and even small cases need to demonstrate judicial fairness and justice. Even small rights should be protected by indiscriminate laws. To the Institute
